Angarak
Youtube has some good vids with ideas, mostly Honda 1.6 DOHC VTECs. For example: :: :: Edit: Maybe a 4AGE Red Top from the AE92 Corolla GTI 16v?
tooquicktostop
Bike engine (R1, GSXR1000 etc is always fun in a mini) but as you want to avoid this a high revving engine would be best, VTEC does look good
nevins
Contact watson racing they specialize in fitting the 2.2 and 2.3 lumps out of preludes in. This does mean extending the front by 9cm but its a drive in drive out service.

steve spedd
There is a turbo mini club. I'm going to be sticking a turbo on mine (once i have the supra finished) The 998 turbos are very common now. Some good write ups on how to do them. Not mad power but they weigh nothing....
