Phill
I have to agree but if you want it black then why not be different and fade the the black to orange so it looks different. could look cool! Oooh now thats an interesting idea. The look would be completely dependant on the quality of the paint fade from orange to black though, it would either look like a train wreck or would give the impression that the engine is sinking beautifully into the bay! RCK10
Reckon an orange to black fade would probably look terrible. Would have to be a clean cut in my opinion if you were doing it a separate colour Just paint the bay chrome aswell!

Phill
Nnooo dont write a gloss black bay off just yet!! http://www.fast351.com/cartech/engbay.htm Use of imagination needed ofc but something like that would really make your hard work stand out. Another option would be to respray the whole car black?!... lol Edited April 22, 2011 by Phill (see edit history)

Rob_Mitchell
Bit of an update. Got the water neck pipe flushed off and fitted with new gasket & sensors, had a custom bracket made which brace's the power steering pump to the block. Does the small sensor (single pin) in the water neck tighten all the way? i have some thread left but worried its going to snap Fitted/stuck on my SRD badge cherry on the cake. hodge
DO NOT tighten it in all the way it's 1/8 NPT thread which means it's tapered, it's designed to seal on the thread. Have you used PTFE tape when you fitted it.

Guest Nick 95 6sp
I just breezed through all your pages here. Congratulations on the build and for heading down a less troden path. On the gold theme, I don't know if you are familiar with this high temp adhesive backed gold foil available from http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=1838 and DEI has smaller pieces if you don't need a wide roll. I used it as my hood liner in place of the OEM piece and I've seen other interesting uses of it, e.g. on intake pipes like here on SW's Supra: Keep it up and good luck. Rob_Mitchell
Been a while since i have done anything to the girl, so i just gave is a quick going over with meguires metal polish as its dusty as hell. Ordered a top water pipe with black hoses from whiffbitz and finally got my hands on a greddy oil cap and radiator cap brand new, sadly the oil cap is in chrome blue but i think it might look ok against the belt and fixings i have. Got the wastegates test fitted and still a bit worried about how big they are but i have been assured they will be fine, just need to get the turbo here to test fit. just took some snaps while the engine was out in the open, got a bit ripped on the oversea's forum with how it looks but i like it and thats all that matters plus they are purist's

Rob_Mitchell
Got my whiffbitz top hose today, decided it needed to be more bling so a chucked it on the polisher and got it looking bling bling . The hose clamps are being gold plated tonight and will add a nice touch to it i think.

pistonbroke
Don't listen to what the 'overseas' lot say mate. Your show winnings suggest you know what you're doing, and you're damn good at it too.
