AJI
Its one of the options but I would be surprised if it did close. The NorthLoop is a very profitable busisness with all the people that visit and the manufacturer days they have there. The main problem is that the creation of the whole NuroDisney theme park has left the place in a big amount of debt. The german government made a BIG mistake by selling both the F1 track and the Northloop to privateer businessmen who then royally fooked up the place by creating some theme park which has nothing to do with why people go there in the first place. I would expect to see the F1 track become the falling point, in that it may not be able to finance any future F1 races there; and the Northloop 'sold off' back to the government or a new privateer company that can turn a profit. But I am guessing that these businessmen that currently own the place are probably dumb enough to continue to run the place in to the ground by hiking up prices for everything. Until they run out of bank loans and the place may shut. (Because already many people find the recent price hikes too much and have decided to turn to other areas for entertainment). AJI
Just to add ; the really bad thing that is happening over in the area of the track is that all local businesses that have a vested interest in the track are being 'ousted' by the privateer company currently running the Nurburgring. ie. merchendise, companies that use the track for 'taxi laps', rental car companies that use the track, any local shop that uses the official logo etc. etc. are now being targetted and threatened with court action so that the new Nurburgring company can have total ownership and rights to every activity and revenue stream to do with the track. This is obviously going to change the whole atmosphere of the area and also the aspect of customer choice and product competition. Many local businesses that rely on the tracks will no doubt go bust and in effect the 'spread' of the 'vibe' will be halted. By this I mean, if this trend continues, you will no longer be able to attend organised track days if not done through the Nring company itself, also you'll no longer be able to buy merchendise with track logos from any local shop/business if not from their own shop, 'tourist lap' ticket prices will see yearly hikes on a new scale never seen before and many local businesses will lose interest and by doing so the only place you'll be able to 'feel' the presence of the track is at the track itself.* *Those that have been there before and have travelled around the area will know that Nurburgring has a wide spread of influence and recognition, you can travel a good 20, 30, 40, 50 miles away and still a number of local businesses will have a motorsport 'theme' somewhere in them. Anyway, this is my own take on the current events taking place at the Nurburging, hopefully it doesn't turn out any where near as bad as that.
