dude
I played a 1080dp disc on a 1080dp tv and the little box at the top said it was playing in 780dp, is this because the HDMI cable is too low a quality or do I need to go into the blueray player and alter the settings ????????? MrRalphMan
Did it say 720p? As you either get 1080(p or i) and 720(P or i). Most BluRay players will have an option to select the output, 90% just use a best available it gets from the TV. I'd do the following first - Check the settings in the BR Player, to ensure that you are not forcing it to 720p If that doesn't work, let us know the make/model of the TV and BR Player. Have you any disks that play at 1080p? and because I'm nosey, what film is it? Paul.
monsween
Yea its more than likely the BR player/PS3 that isn't running it at full 1080p
dude
Thanks guys, the film was Avatar and Max Payne and the player was a Phillips BDP3000, the TV was my new Haier,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Haier-LET40T3-40-LED-FULL-HD-100Hz-TV-Freeview-/110627134094?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Televisions&hash=item19c1e41a8e
tbourner
1 Press the home button. 2 Select [settings], then press OK. 3 Select [Video Setup], then press the right arrow button. 4 Select 'HDMI Video', then press OK. 5 Select 'Auto', then press OK. • To return to the previous menu, press BACK. • To exit the menu, press the home button. tbourner
Ooh, actually, from here: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/b/bdp3000_05/bdp3000_05_dfu_eng.pdf You can just press the 'HDMI' button (top right of your remote) and it changes HDMI resolution output. Ric
If that doesent still work Have a look at the bluray box rear Some titles only come in 720p, just because its a bluray doesent mean its automatically 1080p Its whatever the title is recorded in, however you would have thought avatar was 1080p

Dug this out of AVForums for you Dude. Basically over the lengths you require it doesn't matter what you buy it seems. http://www.avforums.com/forums/2808049-post29.html Seems I may have overspent by about 150 quid. Using high priced HDMI leads is a waste of money, digital signals don't depend on transmission material's to gain/loses quality unlike analog, so you won't see any difference between a £5 and a £150 cable, other than your bank balance;)

Cheapy ones are good for up to around 3m...any longer then sometimes a slightly better lead does help (shielding and such), but the super expensive ones? snakeoil
