SupraHuman
Long story short, my PS3 stopped working mid game early this year, the blu ray drive just went dead. When inserting game or movie into the drive nothing happend, the box still turns on/off alright and i can move about through the different menues with the controler. Now 7 months later I thought I'll sort this out and went on ebay and bought a replacment blu ray drive model KES-410A as my serial number ends with CECHM(80 gig fat model) Postie dropped it off this morning and all was well, opened the PS3 and removed the old blu ray drive, hooked up the new one(only a power feed and a serial cable) and NOTHING.....it is just the same as the old drive...insert blu ray movie..nothing, eject, then I inserted GTA to see if it would load, but no such luck. WTF is going on here? Any ideas Peeps? Help an old git play GT5 on new years eve............

RobD
Did you try formatting it before you installed the new drive? My other halfs brother had the same problems, I formatted the hard drive and it worked fine after and still is going strong

SupraHuman
Yepp, you can have it for £110 + P&P, that is the console and HDMI & power cable , I am keeping the controller for the female. Still got the original box for it too Just paid £65 for the new drive which arrived today. Rob, i formatted prior to install, never tried after the new drive was fitted but it's all boxed up now so I can't be asked, thanks for the tip tho, will keep it in mind next time it blows up Fancy selling the old one?
