How long to download 12gb on a 4mb service?

As per the title how long will it take to download 12gb worth of data on a 4mb service?

I've tried online calculators but they vary wildly from about 6hrs to 210 days!

It's on Steam as well which, IIRC, doesn't tell you how long the download has left.

Thank you.

It all depends on your actual speed, if its a 4Mb line it does not mean you will get 4Mb download speed.

To get an idea pop onto speedtest.net and get a download speed reading, that will give you more an idea of what you are actually likely to get.

Looks like this... (This is a reading from my work internet)

Thanks Geo. Fair too long in my opinion. I can drive into town, park up, walk to the store, pay the same price, walk back to the car, drive home, install it from disk and then only have to download the 5gb of DLC in less than 6hrs.

Richard: Speednet always reads under what I actually get when I download. It just said 3.6 but when I tried to download a large file I got 4.3 and that is what I usually get.

True i always get readings lower than what i usually get too, but it’s not too bad to get an idea on speed download especially if you are looking at worse case.

It does also depend on the server providing the data as well as the location.

If their datacenter is getting hammered for a popular download then their bandwidth is going to be restricted at their end, it does not happen very often but sometimes it does.
