Whitesupraboy2
yeah but to break some silly 5 FIA regulations is not as bad as not running at all is it? so what if the teams that did run on the flown in tyre got penalised... at least they could have had cars on the track. agreed, point i was making ,is you said Michelin didnt want to fly tyre in and use that...which they did want to do or at least tried. they just werent allowed. Ferrari and the FIA are too close, proved that by signing their own agreement!
imi
M Schumi gets away with it because he has the 100% backing of Ferrari (FIA) unlike his TESTING mate R Barrachello. Did you watch the fans being interviewed??? They were all blaming the teams running michelins. LOL, how thick are these Americans. May god help them. I dont blame them cause they dont have access to all the information us TV viewers had. What matters is that this is the end of F1 in the US and that is a BIG BLOW for F1. imi
yeah but how could Michelin guarentee the tyre on a new chicane with no test data? HIGH LOAD ON THE TYRE WAS THE PROBLEM for the sidewall failure. LOWER SPEEDS = LOWER LOAD

imi
The Michelin runners offered to RACE for NO POINTS (so that they could put a show on for the spectators) They offered to let the BRIDGESTONE runners to start from the front this is my bit DID THE FIA or FERRARI budge on the chicane? BOLLOCKS - these guys have no place in sport.

QUOTE] Oh right.... I haven't been watching the race now since lap 10..... I was going from information that Brundle said earlier on. In which he said Michelin didn't want to take a performance drop. And I still don't know how michelin could guarentee their tyres even with chicane without test data. I accept that lower speed = lower sidewall stress but without test data how would they know how many laps their tyres could take on the new 'diamond cut' surface. The banked turn would still be taken at some speed and the rest of the circuit has some high speed corners.

I dont know, and don't need to know - its irrelevant.......point is that Michelin guaranteed the safety of the tyre under those conditions....thats what matters. adi2009
IMO, They really need to consider the Spectators as well. I'm sure they could have bent the rules a little and allowed new tyres to be flown in while simultaneously giving the Bridgestone teams some additional priorities!!! I'm sure they could have bent the rules a little and allowed new tyres to be flown in while simultaneously giving the Bridgestone teams some additional priorities!!! read my post about what Nick Fry said....that is what the Michelin teams were proposing....solutions to get a full grid on track to RACE FOR THE SPECTATORS The true motorsport teams do care about motorsport fans. imi
no doubts Schumi is the best driver in F1 for some time now...but geez...the guy needs to work on his popularity - with a team like Ferrari behind him - i doubt thats going to be possible. so in some way I do sympathize with him too.. actually.....naaah I dont

eldudereno
Why do people always want to rag on manchester United, the thread is about motor racing you fool, leave it that way !! There's no need for that!!! Who the do you think you are!! I was referring to Ferrari as the team we all like to hate which in reality is also the general consensus of opinion towards Man Utd, it's a fact! This site is all about opinions, not calling fellow members!
imi
SUMMARY OF RACE And a quote that sums up whats wrong with F1 today "On Lap 59 we got the call over the team radio from Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn to both drivers to turn the RPM down and get both cars to the finish. Which is presumably not what he said at Monaco when Michael was allowed to overtake Rubens in a hair-raising last lap move."
Branners
bridgestone brough a tyre along that didnt fail in such a spectacular manner...michelin thought they knew better. Michelin are at fault, why should the bridgestone runners take any sort of penalty because Michelin are so thick they couldnt work out what sort of tyre they needed. If the 'boot' was on the other foot do you think Williams or McLaren wouldnt take the chance to put the knife in... I do admit it ruined what could have been a great race, but blaming the FIA and Ferrari for the fact that Michelin choose the wrong tyre purely based on the fact that they had to push the limits of their tyres further than Bridgestone to get similar performance is just nuts.
