RobD
I was wondering if anybody knows if you can use the kinect on the older xbox's or whether it's just the new ones they just released? Thanks
Josh
You can use it on both
nasoup
Had a new 360 pass through my hands this xmas and on the box it said 'kinect ready', I don't remember seeing this on my old 360 box so I assumed it was only the new one's. WRONG! http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/original-xbox-360-requires-separate-power-for-kinect/
RobD
That's what I was thinking Nasoup! Also if you go to game/gamestation they don't advertise it with the old just the new! Josh, are you completely sure?
The Restorer
If you have a newer console, through the Kinect connector it will also power the console. The older consoles use the USB port to connect the Kinect and hence it requires its own additional power supply. If you buy the retail version of the Kinect (on its own with just Kinect Adventures) it will come with this extra power supply. If you buy the Kinect packaged with a console bundle it does not have the extra power supply as the new console does not need it. FWIW... I have the Kinect connected to an older Super Elite console. RobD
And is it the kinect that you don't need a controller like in the adverts? Whereas the ps3 move you do?
The Raven
Yes rob it is. Not overly sure how well it works having never seen it running. BTW just adding you for my free RZ

pistonbroke
My opinion, is it's rubbish. No decent games for it, laggy response from commands, need a massive room to make it work. Having no button inputs really limits what can be done with games. The PS3's move is better.

supra_aero
My brother got it for xmas. And boxing day he was at game trying to return it His impressions was it's not very accurate and it needs a huge living room to really work with it. And he has the old style 360 too by the way so it definitely works with the old one
Josh
It looks like there's quite a delay, especially on the videos for Forza 4.
Scott
I must admit I didn't fancy it. I got the Eyetoy when it came out on the PS2 and even though the Kinect is far more advanced the level of gameplay is going to be VERY similar. I'm not 100% sold on the move either though, The Shoot is very good to start off with but does tend to get a little tedious. It is extremely accurate and very intuitive though. It was actually my Dad that got the Move setup as he likes shooting games where he can "blast the bad guys". They all seem like Christmas fads to me...... although I fancy using the Move controller as a light saber
Suprab1
My brother got the kinect for xmas & i played it for 3 days running & thought it was very good. I can't say i noticed any delay in it. My woman also does a few workout classes a week & she was still sore the next day after playing it.
edinlexusV8
I also got Kinect this Christmas, works perfectly with my old XBox. The games i have played until now are Kinect Adventures, Dance Central and Kinect Sports. Looking at some of the replies in here I have to say this as loudly as possible. THERE IS NO DELAY OR LAG WITH KINECT WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING GAMES. Played Kinect Adventures for 3 days in a row. It is just so much fun to use it. Yeah most of my back hurts due to excessive playing. It also takes voice commands now and is just a dream to watch films or play music on Zune just by shouting commands at the console. Honestly if you dont have Kinect you are definitely missing on a great fun experience!
RCK10
People need to keep in mind kinects more of a fun factor than for the serious gamer. That's why the games aren't as advanced as black ops or what not. There talking about making new cods, gears etc compatible with kinect but that won't be for years yet ... As to the comment earlier gamestation do kinect and the 4gb console for 249.99...the 250gb is 299.99 with kinect. You can get kinect with a game and 2 years cover for 159.97. Imo, kinect is far better than PS move but everyones opinion is different. You don't need a "massive" living room to play. Most average sized will do. You need 6 feet from the sensor to be exact! lol
