Am I the only person to buy DVDs with no intention of watching them?

I've just noticed that the Evil Dead trillogy is now available on Blu-Ray. A must have for my collection of movies. However, I have no intention of ever watching any of the discs (I already have the movies from other means).

Does anyone else buy movies just to add to the collection and not to actually bother with watching? I have most of my favourite movies on DVD/Bluray but I never tend to watch any of them, instead, on the rare occasion I want to watch one, I download digital copies of them to watch via the PS3.

Not with DVDs... but CDs. I buy them, put them on iTunes and never use the CD again. I could buy the albums digitally, but it's nice to have the CDs and cases! One day I plan to buy all the albums I've 'acquired' over the years, as well as the ones I've lost since buying the first time. I think they'd look cool on a massive CD rack (specified, to avoid the inevitable 'massive rack' jokes!) on the wall :)

I've never really bothered with CDs. I don't really like particular Artists or Albums, I simply like songs. This means that I make up my own albums via iTunes etc.

:) I've done this in the past an i now have loads of clutter

I don't do it anymore ;)

I have about 300 DVDs up the loft. Doesn't stop me buying them, I just put them up in bundles. I just like to have all the movies that really made an on screen impact on me. From obvious ones like the Shawshank Redmeption and the Godfather, to not so obvious ones like ET and the Monster Squad.

I used to buy just to add to the collection but have stopped that addiction now. I had to give away about 300 dvd's when I moved into our smaller new house so I've only got about 200 up in the loft.

I have only replaced my very favourites that I definitely will watch again with blu-rays (I wouldn't be seen dead with dvd's on the shelf in the living room, thats so three years ago :D)

Ugh. It's going to be fun clearing your house when you kick the bucket. ;)

The loft is like an 80s and 90s treasure trove lol.

I'm the same, I am happy to have my favourites on DVD with the ones I REALLY love on Bluray. As long as I have them on a semi-permenant media I'm happy :)
