Im starting a new job next year and on the 4th of january I have to go to Birmingham and do training for the rest of the week. Im staying in a big hotel called 'Jury Inn' Does anyone know it? or have ever stayed in it?

I have to get a train from manchester to New Street railway station then get a taxi to Cable and wireless offices which dont seem that far away from the train station.

I dont do much traveling so I wanted to ask on here does anyone know the area i.e. train station or the Jury Inn & is there anything good in the area for me to do at night? Also does anyone know exactly where the cable & wireless offices are coming from the New street train station?

Jurys Inn is quite nice. Modern hotel with fairly nice rooms. Quite expensive to stay in and to eat in. But it is in a good area for cinemas, pubs, restaurants and so on.

There's a cinema just round the corner, it is about 10 mins walk from the ICC and town centre and all well placed for a stay for a week.

I quite like Brum, everything is nearer than you think (compared to London) and mostly it is quite friendly.

Yeah I have seen some photos of the hotel and it does look quite nice. Everything is paid for so price is no bother for me :D

I will see whats out at the cinema that week and try and make a full night out of it. Im not a big drinker so pubs wont be on the top of my list. Sounds like the hotel is in a good spot for things to do.

Cool,

I dont wanna stray out of that area really as I want to try and go to sleep around 10ish as the training is going to be quite hard. Plus I have not been on public transport for 8/9 years for a reason so I dont want to make a habbit of traveling (In my car thats fine..... Just not on a train or especially a bus, eww peasent wagon).

Make sure if you do get a bus that you don't go upstairs at night from Birmingham. Unless you like abuse ;)

Oh I like abit of abuse but only in a swingers club. I like walking so long as the journey is no longer than an hour + I would get a taxi rather than getting the bus anyway.

Thanks for the heads up though Josh. Is there any rough parts at night I should worry about or is it like any major city (wrong place at the wrong time ect).

It's all fine really. I'd stay away from Broad Street (the main road through Birmingham) at the weekends as the clubs are pretty much all filled with chavs. Lots of police presence though :)

If you stay in the city centre then there's nowhere really you should avoid. The only 'bad areas' would be obvious anyway (dodgy looking flats and stuff).

If you need help then let me know on here and I'll come to your aid :p

Seriously though It all sounds good I cant wait to get there, Thanks for your help.

I noticed Broad Street on a map I was looking at, I think its quite close to the hotel but I wont be there over weekend so wont have to put up with chavs or the blackout crew mc'ing at me haha.

If the price is right then it does.. ;)

No worries :) You'll have a good time and in the week Broad Street will be good for going out for meals and drinks and stuff.

take a look at the ICC web site and see if there are any decent acts on. You should also check the NEC and see if anything is on there as it is a fairly short train trip from New Street.

Or possibly the NIA as it's just off Broad Street and there may be something on there :)

Personally I'd lock and multiple bolt the door well before dark, check a full clip's in the Beretta and not come out until after daybreak, but even then be on your toes.. Good luck! :).

Lol, its not that bad chris, i`d go with the 44 magnum as its easier to conceal but still has a nice impact when unleashed:)
