caseys
It takes a week or so to get all the gear in to place before the race doesn't it? What about the security of moving all this gear in to place. Even if they stopped rioting in the next few days it would be tight, and whats to say the people wouldn't use the media scrum of F1 to protest. Next day or so i reckon little Bernie will announce something http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_Paul_Ricard Owned by Bernie iirc. I think as a few have pointed out is the satellite time many firms will have booked weeks/months in advance to broadcast a race... that's $$$ and if the GP isn't on, their adverts I'm sure aren't worth the money paid for them. Tony
nothing to do with the track or the facilities - more to do with the so called "royalty" that are in power, so its a political stance. So India should not have a race then with the amount of poverty they have there?
Guigsy
Should try rotary engines one year

caseys
F1 GP @ Bahrain is called off. Linky/info chap? Can see that the practice is canned, but not the race yet. I still think they should do an all out at Paul Ricard

caseys
It's all over Sky News now. They can't do that because of time slots and logistics... Ah no can see at work. Feh time reqs always shrink when money is applied. Most of the teams are in Spain, most of the teams are located in UK + france. Track is in France. Ok so ticket holders are shafted but could easily televise a race, that and bernie had all that HD kit.
johnny g
I think Paul Ricard or Jerez could be a winner, but a lot of stuff is already in the Gulf. Could work, or they lose $40m

RedM
TBH I think it is a good thing. Even as an F1 fan I think a massively expensive, elitist sporting parade of corporate logos would be in shockingly poor taste right now.
miles
Although I'm disappointed in having to wait eveeeen longer to watch f1 I think it is a good move considering the circumstances. On the plus side the Australian gp is now the first on the calendar as it should be:)
Bailey.
Does this mean they get more time to develop the cars??

imi
"1058: Vettel (1:21.865) still rules the roost with a time which we might not see beaten all week, let alone today. Di Resta, second-fastest, is back out on the track and has just closed the gap on Vettel with a 1:24.334, but he's still 2.469 seconds off the pace. Petrov (1:24.689) sits third, Massa (1:24.878) fourth and Kobayashi (1:25.485) fifth. Hamilton (1:30.959) is still down in 10th."
tbourner
Woohoo, go Di Resta! Might have to get rid of Hammi from my fantasy league, at least I've got another Brit.
