Indeed, but a football match is a game of two halves. Formula One isn't :)

This statement below is on numerous websites. :)

Sky Sports will show every race, qualifying and practice session live and uninterrupted.

So gutted to hear Sky will be getting half the races. It's a poor show for the BBC. I love the BBC approach and enjoy all the blurb etc..

Sky will ruin it and have crap adverts. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a commercial success for them.

The BBC should get rid of some of the rubbish dance and cooking programs and pay up for the F1. It's virtually the only thing on the BBC I watch.

Sad day indeed :(

Bernie Ecclestone should'nt allow this to happen, why doesn't he use some of his money instead of spending £100 million on a couple of houses in London for his two daughters. :protest:

Bernie is trying to protect his posthumous assets from the thieving hands of the Treasury by setting up trust funds and buying nice gifts, like any parent would to ensure their hard earned cash stays in the family. You can't blame him for that.

If one was exclusively a SKY customer why are you then FORCED to pay the TV license.....now that most sport programmes are off the BBC, I see little point in forking out 145 pounds per year for come dancing and the lottery.

There's an argument which says that Sky will transform F1 the same way it's transformed football. Thoughts?

You mean a load of boring monkeys sat in a studio being boring analysing every boring irrelevant detail.

The bbc's "in the action" approach with the knowledge and experience of the presenters cant be faulted IMO

I have 2 fears with Sky taking over F1

Crap coverage, ie: presenters that no little if anything about F1 and adverts even though they apparently say there

wont be.

I guess we'll find out soon enough

I have to say though the highlights we get at the moment on BBC are very good. An hour of action from the race, everything important is covered. I know it's not as nice as sitting down to watch the whole thing, and the before and after (including red button) are fantastic. All I can say is I hope we still get the same coverage on the 'highlight only' races, and that the normal hour is the same with the 'extended' bit (I guess an extra 30 mins?) being the before and after stuff, like Brundle driving the tyres and describing wings etc.

Does anyone know if they'll still be going to the races and filming as normal, just not playing it live and editing a highlights piece instead? They could still do that and still get the cash from Sky.
