Will i do any damage running on tickover with intercooler pipes off

As title says i want to know if i can just run the engine on tick over with out the intercooler and pipes off.

You can yes, but you would need to be in a clean environment.

 

If not then a set of tights over the turbo inlet and intake manifold would do the job nicely for simply idling on the drive. That is if you are removing the turbo inlet pipe as well?

yes all inlet pies will be removed need to check new rad before fitting my new intercooler.need to wade the missis underware draw now

Id leave it open, pulling a pair of tights out of the engine after it has sucked them up will be fun.

mmm you could be right ill just make sure nothing about and clean, may just fit filter pipe on and make sure ok around inlet manifold side

If you do put the foot of a stocking over the inlet make sure it is clamped and there is no way it can be sucked in.

Na, at idling it will be fine. Just make sure, as above, it is all the way up to the foot and stretched over. A bit of tape round the intake wouldn't go wrong, just to be on the safe side

Put some ping bong balls in the inlet and see if they get fired out of the exhaust
