stevie_b
I'm thinking of buying a Macbook soon (not for me: I'm a Linux/Windows devotee), and was wondering if Apple tend to offer discounts in the January sales. My googling results indicate they probably don't: is that correct? Any tips on where best to buy Macbooks from? e.g. do resellers like Amazon offer discounts on them from time to time? caseys
Nope they don't. Generally you have the thanksgiving one and the student September time-frame one (where you get a free iPod Touch or such). I can get discounts from the RRP via the EP program, for instance a base macbook is £797.83 to me (instead of £849) or a base MBP is £938.83 (instead of £999), 15 inch MBP for £1408 instead of £1499. Roughly a 6-8% discount on HW. I can get these for friends and family. Otherwise as said in a previous thread Apple's RRPs are tightly controlled. Let me know what you're looking for and can tell you what I can get it for. Sometimes you can get previous models from retailers for under their old RRP when a new product launches but that's about it.

clapyohandz
Here, only associates get discounts once a year. Something like 17.5% roughly...
ellis
Try looking in the refurb section (bottom left or right on the screen) - its where I buy all my Macs from!
