jazz1
I bought my girlfriend an Ipad 16gb wifi for christmas and payed 390, brand new with 1 years warranty. Iv checked everywhere and can`t seem to find a cheaper price then that. Im considering buying one myself or maybe the samsung tablet, should i wait till after new years, incase they might drop in price or is that the cheapest i will get one brand new? Anyone have the samsung tablet? if yes, whats that like.
Ric
Apple pricing is fixed by Apple themselves, think it lucky that you got one cheaper than their RRP at all
JustGav
Do your research before deciding between ipad or android, just because you think it is a 'cool' device.... There is a world of difference between the two and people over-expect.
jazz1
Not really, i can still get another one brand new for 390 tax free. Im double minded between the samsung tablet, plus iv heard people state they will be cheaper after new years.

But the ipad still apealling due to the size of the screen. My mind is still on the samsung, but im just looking at prices and if they will drop after new years. Itunes has a far bigger 'consumer' app store, a better design and the ipad is cheaper than the samsung pad (The current one, and the samsung is a 7" screen)..... (WOW, I'm actually defending apple here, eeeeeeeeeeek ) The apad is brilliant IF you know what to expect, bear in mind the android OS (2.x) is meant as a phone OS (okay so is iOS), but it still has a lot of remnants of the phone in it rather than tablet stuff. Honeycomb (3.0) is going to make the biggest dent for android in the tab market if they do it right.
jazz1
I agree in terms of apple having bigger app store. But the samsung still beats the ipad due to it's features, example camera, phone, flash, better wifi etc. Il wait to test the girlfriends one once she opens it :-). Do you think these gadgets will drop in price after new year?

Do you think these gadgets will drop in price after new year? I wouldn't go for a samsung pad, not unless you are happy being an earlier adopter, but it does mean you will have to deal with all the initial issues, which if you expect the world will result in thinking it is a crap device. The market will get hit with a huge range of tablets next year running Android, and some which will finally give the ipad a good run for it's money. The ipad as above is pretty much price fixed. Don't get me wrong, I'm a major supporter of Android, but then I'm happy building custom kernels and roms, and more often than not my tab is bust while I chase down a bug, it keeps me entertained rather than actually USING the device If you were of a techie nature then maybe I'd suggest an Android unit at this point but for a consumer the current choice is apple, apple or apple. jazz1
I agree apple always have the first mind off knowledge. I'm in no rush, il just wait till next year to compare prices and products. Thanks for the information
RedM
If I were a betting man I'd wager that you haven't bought anyone an ipad but are, in fact, asking us what we think is best albeit in a roundabout way. If you can get an ipad for £390 then please show club spirit and share the detail/link so that others can get one.

Ric
Lol if you read I stated tax free, use your brain I live in London so in that case, its 458£ which is 35 quid over the odds from Apple with tax. And as for the samsung having better Wifi? how? does it have that new Wifi 802 Z that nobody knows about?
b_have
I bought one at launch for £420, seen them as cheap as £380 (grey import from the states) On a side note, anyone found a way to upload video from a camera using the camera connection kit? I've searched for an app to convert the formats, but nothing. (have a rather nice rat video I'd like to share )

I just import the video into the ipad then use VLC to play
