qaisar
Ok ive tried to get info from other boards, but not much of a response. GavinL suggested trying this board as its in the UK and mostly quite a few J spec. Ok so here goes Ive got a j-spec auto Mk IV supra which is totally standard. now ive got a few problems with it so im not driving it at the moment. I notice the caution light has started to come on and off when the car is moving. I read somewhere else that its probably the brake fluid or engine oil levels. Checked the oil levels which seems fine, might be the brake fluid, gonna check that soon. main problem is that i was driving slowly the other day and the car started jerking a bit. it has stalled twice when at a standstill pulling off. the power steering has got heavy a couple of times too. The overdrive light has flashed on and off a few times. Also when turning on full lock there is also a creaking noise. ive seen white smoke on start ups and sometimes at idle. as you can see i need help, im gonna take the car to a garage, but they are closed due to new year holidays at the moment, so in the meantime i would really appreciate some help from the guys on this forum. Alex
Pull the EFI fuses. Under the bonnet passenger side. There is a black box aft of the battery. Open it flip the lid open to find the diagram. That will explain which are the two EFI fuses. Pull them both out for 10mins. put them back in and retest. This should stop the stalling. The power steering will get heavy when its not being aided by the engine. If that all doesn't help take it to Chris Wilson...

Terminator
Some more info needed before we can help Is this a new import or did you buy it from an owner over here? How long have you had these problem was the car fine before? Has any electrical work be done recently? Has the auto box fluid been changed or checked recently? When and where was the car last serviced? (You can PM the answer to that to avoid possible problems.
Steve Cargill
Hi qaisar, have a look at the link below for a possible solution to the creaking you've got. Leon, a Supra specialist used by a lot of people here, is near Milton Keynes would be a good bet. It's quite a complex car and many garages wouldn't have a clue where to start - especially when you're having problems. The flashing OD light, and possibly the stalling could be a bad speedo conversion. If it's brake fluid causing the triangle to come on then it usually only happens under braking unless it's really low. Is the white smoke more than the normal 'clouds' you get on cold days - subjective one that Is it a N/A or TT? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3769
AJI
Might just be that your battery is on its way out. Or your alternator might not be charging correctly. But then if its alternator there should be a warning light showing on dashboard. Check electrolyte levels in battery or get battery tested. as5606
Sounds like a powersteering pump. When mine went the other month, it made the engine stall because it seized up and if you started it and kept it running with your right foot, the belt would just slip and give off white smoke. qaisar
its an import twin turbo bought in the UK privately, dont know much about its history as it was bought by the old man from someone he knew two or three months ago, but it seemed fine when he bought it, apart from the creaking sound, which i thought might just be a steering rack lubrication problem. The problems first occured about ten to 14 days ago and just last weekend the car started jerking, so ive not driven it since so that i can take it to a garage. No electrical modifications have been made, it is a totally standard Twin turbo, its even still go the 112mph limiter (glad i found that out before trying to race someone ) Like i said i dont know when it was last serviced or had the fluids checked. My first thought was to get a service done at a garage and get all the fluids changed (by the way which ones do you guys recommend?) Looking back i probably should have got that done as soon as i got it. Also how do i get in touch with Leon?, is it Leon Green listed in resources links? Terminator
Yes, Leon Green, get in touch with him, he will sort you out. Don't take it to a main dealer they may put the wrong fluids in IMHO
