Syed Shah
What is your ultimate budget? What times do you want to run? If you have a big enough money supply, the T51R or T88 would be fine, but otherwise, anything over a SP67 going to be too big.

I think there's some loony in the states that's done it though . . .
Alex
The Jun Akira Supra which got the speed record at bonneville has 2x T-78's and approx 1,500bhp....on a stock bottom end...honest! The 2JZ has been developed by some tuning houses to rev at over 10,000rpm....but it wouldn't last long...the "race" spec blocks are only rated at 9,000rpm. There is a Supra with 2x T-66's in the states. his car is featured on T04R.com but it only develops ~800hp because the boost is set low. Gawd knows if its at all driveable. Paul Whiffin has a Powerhouse single turbo kit, I believe the Street kit. Flavio

Guest Usmann A
Good too see one of my previous threads re appear! I prefer the TO4R or T51R but knw that this will give silly lag, and what everyone needs is usable power, so the T04R is a lovely turbo with big A/R ratio 0.96, and give good mid range and delivers all the way to redline. As alex advisd me previously T04R, but I was tmepted with all them US supras running huge mother turbos, and in reality(UK not US) , them cars are known as DYNO QUEENS. But me pops wants a twin setup when the turbos blow or he decides to change em.....which I hope is very soon! :flame Dev I know its sad! The JUN supra runs a stock bottom end??? that cant be right, maybe a new bottom end for each run eh?

Guest Usmann A
C'mon syed, your telling me that so called 900rwhp cars in the states are reliable, your joking! OK...........Most of them are dyno queens but you do get quite a few also that can show it on the strip, remember the titan car is a Drag car, not road legal, therefore it would do good at the strip, I am commenting on some of the lunatics that claim 800-1000rwhp on stock bottom end, ok its possible but you would need to tow it to the track then after 2 runs go home and rebuild it! So guys claiming these power figures are no way using them as everyday or as a car, rather a Dyno queen which can put numbers down on the Dyno, and go and get parked in the drive, ready for another session to up the numbers. Syed Shah
Yes, some are dyno queens, but not all big turbo, big number cars are! A few give the rest a bad name! True, the US guys measure power differently, but there are still a lot of very good Supras there, just look at their times and you can see that they live upto the numbers! As for reliability, well true, some of their cars are over-stretched to say the least, but the better modded ones are very reliable for what they are, eg Andi's auto-X car, which still puts down the big numbers. Have to agree though on their reluctance to mod the engine itself, but if done properly, with an uprated engine, as some are (SW car) they can be reliable. A balance needs to be stuck between the OTT attitude of the US guys to power, and the very conservative power levels over here. Big power can be done reliably if done properly. Guest Usmann A
1127HP! Well impressive, if only a car like that would make an appearance at TOTB2. SP74, what do you think his redline would be at? Very subtle for a supra, yet must go like stink. Usmann
