jackso11
ahh, I see now Good, because yours made me want one! Have you had yours chromed Rob or do they come that shiney?
Rob_Mitchell
no they all come in a stock gunmetal colour mate. costs alot to get them chromed
Scott
It doesn't fit with the under tray part of the UK scoop (that you bolt it on with). I had to cut mine up to get it to fit properly. In fact I still need to get the finger out and sort out the edges of where I cut it lol.
jackso11
ahh. Bugger. Can you show me a photo of what you have done scott?
Scott
ahh. Bugger. Can you show me a photo of what you have done scott? Not right now as I don't have any. However, in the install guide on MKIV.com (I think) it shows the modification required for a strut brace. I just did something similar to that with an angle grinder

Dnk
just remove the underside of the scoop, no need to cut it
Scott
just remove the underside of the scoop, no need to cut it You could do that but it acts as a spreader plate. Top speed runs put a LOT of force on it and you might dimple the bonnet. In saying that, a few penny washers would sort that out
jackso11
I might get a spare under plate and see how I can modify it, or make a new one that would fit around the strut
Scott
Side on view from the passenger side, you remove a bit like this. Very crude drawing but it shows what is required.
jackso11
ahh I see. seems strange that toyota would make a strut that doesn't fit with their own bonnet. is it the same with any strut?

Yeah, the first one I had an issue with was a non branded one. I had to cut off a little more for the TRD due to it being thicker. Remember that TRD is Japanese, the Japanese Sup didn't come with a scoop.

David P
The snorkel is made of steel so thin it can be cut with scissors, then just pipe the edge with small diameter rubber hose. It looks like this when done.

Dnk
As above, the snorkel fits down the side of the cylinder head Edited December 16, 2010 by Dnk (see edit history)
David P
Whatever you would like to call it, this is the component in question, and provides an explanatory depiction of the solution.
