Aristo 2JZ into a Supra

Because unlike the Supra cooling fan with its viscous drive the Aristo has a hydraulic powered cooling fan, powered by the pump on the water pump and speed controlled by the ECU. And I wouldnt advise just bunging the holes, with no fluid in it the bearings will fail in short order.

So if i had the WHOLE Aristo engine, Aristo wiring loom and Aristo ECU to bung in my Supra would i then have a hydraulic driven cooling fan?

Everything on that list must be taken from the supra engine and fitted to the aristo engine or it won't fit.

 

The loom is totally different and I mean totally. Even the ECU multiplug is different. I've got an aristo loom in the shed ready to go to the tip. I think there's a guy in the states who mods an aristo loom with an N/A loom to fit a supra but can't imagine it's cheap.

 

The plenum has no brake booster pipe on top.

The trac stepper motor on the TB is totally different to a supra but both of the above could be modded to fit.

The water pump has a PAS cooler running through it.

Engine mount brackets are way too small cos an aristo bay is much narrower than a supra.

Upper and lower sump is the wrong round but you could mod N/A sumps to fit.

Igniter bracket is different.

Oil level sensor has a different connector to a supra god knows why so does the water temp sensor.

Y-piece turbo pipe has the recurc valve bolted direct to the pipe but a supra fits to a hose. This would be fine if you don't run a BOV or you buy a specific BOV for an Aristo.

Turbo oil drain follow a different path due to the sump so I'd advise use the supra ones or mod the aristo pipes to fit.

The ECU plug is identical, the Aristo has an extra plug on the engine loom for some of the body modules.

On the 1991-1992 plenums, they had no hole for a vacuum take off, the later plenums had a blanking bolt in as they unified the plenums for the release of the Supra.

The water pump doesn't have a PAS cooler run through it, it's a hydraulic cooling fan.

How much would you like for the Aristo loom if it's not been tipped?

This is the Supra water pump. As I recall from researching this in case I ever need to replace the waterpump on my Aristo, you need to buy Part 16100 (and the pulley, Part 16371, and Supra auxiliary belt). If you were fitting a new pump to a Supra you'd only have to buy Part 16110.

Sorry, but can't agree.

 

VVTi GTE Supra to VVTi GTE Aristo maybe different plugs, but pre-VVTi they are identical.

 

Pinouts are 99% identical and you can swap between Supra ECU and Aristo ECU, I know this, as I ran my first Aristo back in 2005 on a Supra ECU, I also run a garage specialising in Aristos.

 

You must have got a loom confused somewhere along the line or they've had the plugs changed.

 

Please post a pic if you can, as they are identical and would like to see what you have.

Hi im new to this forum. Hope im in the right thread.

I have a 2jzgte vvti auto which i think is from a aristo jzs161* its missing the ecu and plugs.

I would like some suggestions. what should i go for..

After market standalone ( modded supra plugs ) / jdm aristo ecu and plugs (which im sure will be a pain to find.

This is an aristo non VVTI

The supra has the top plug that screws into the ECU but also has a smaller plug that plugs into it also, as you can see this just has 2 large plugs. The Supra loom also has 4 smaller plugs which attach to the interior harness which isn't there either.

I used a VVTi 2JZGTE engine from JZS161 in my car when the other engine was trashed by the turbo. It was only really the short block that got used though, everything else got rebuilt using either new parts or parts from my JZA80 engine.

 

Hi have you still got the cyulinder head as i need a 2jzgte vvti cylinder head?

Just seen this, not been on here much.

 

The E9 connector (the plug with the yellow connectors) is common between Aristo and Supra, as you said. The E10 connector (which goes on the far right of the ECU, doesn't bolt in the like the E9 but is a clip fitting), which again is common between the Aristo and Supra but isn't part of the engine loom on the Aristo (and don't think it is on the Supra loom either? ) but the Aristo does have the E10 connector.

 

The other plug isn't an ECU plug, and I only stated the ECU plugs are identical.

Mate do a search, I've done 2 aristo engines in supras and there's a world of stuff that's different. I did a thread with all variants.

Off the top of my head you will need to change:-

Upper sump

Lower sump

Oil level sensor

Engine mount brackets

Water pump

Throttle body

Plenum

Engine Loom

Y-piece on turbo pipes is different but can be used.

Turbo oil drain follows a slightly different path, so may need to use the supra 1 to match the upper sump.

Apart from this it fits :-)

 

Upper oil pan can be reused from the GE as long as you drill out the turbo drain hole. Once you do that you can reuse the lower pan and the oil level sensor.

 

Motor mounts and brackets are a direct swap over.

 

Water pump should be replaced anyways. Only difference is you need to purchase it with the rear housing, no big deal. Clutch fan can be reused from the GE. GE fan blade can be used as well if a spacer & extended studs are added but I'd just buy the TT fan from the dealership.

 

throttlebody & plenum? aristo will work.

 

Y turbo drain pipe can be bought from the dealership, no big deal.

 

Wiring harness can be merged together, not a big deal.
