mellonman
Hi all just a quick one i know the title has alot of letters lol but if i had a aem fic version 8 fitted would i still need to have a fcd or would this ecu be able to sort that out? also if mapping would you need to have a o2 signal or wide band signal or all could be done on factory default settings Edited December 10, 2010 by mellonman (see edit history)
mwilkinson
Not sure about the fcd part, but I would assume, that is it's an opinion, that an aftermarket lambda sensor would be required for accurate tuning.
mellonman
i have the aem wide band but was not wired in when mapping? i have looked everwhere to see if anyone knows about the boost cut,
mwilkinson
Give handsome luke, dude or Ryan a PM and ask. They should all know.
Stephendjb
No FCD required with the AEM FIC it intercepts the signals to the ecu & can lock them at what ever level is required.
Swampy442
As above, the AEM is an FCD in effect.
mellonman
thats what i thought but the fcd has been left wired in its a hks one as well so not the best, the mapper has not finished it yet and said he wanted to do a road test, but i think i will be asking some questions first as in why they are not using the wide band o2 and still havethe fcd wired in
Ian C
Is this the same guy that said you get detonation at 1.2bar on a BPU supra...?
mellonman
Is this the same guy that said you get detonation at 1.2bar on a BPU supra...? This is, hot spots when at transion of turbos coked engine is what they are thinking,
Ian C
The way I understood it from your original post is that this guy said all Supras det at 1.2bar. I now understand it's actually your Supra is detting at 1.2bar, that puts a completely different spin on things! If they say it's detting then it probably is - if you need proof all you have to do is have a listen with the det cans yourself. I think this is a case of "two sides to every story". You need to work out what you want and what your priorities are, and talk to the people working on your car. You've got two tech threads going, one saying it could be detting, coked turbos, and things not yet wired up right, and in the other thread you are trying to achieve maximum boost and power! I suggest getting the problems fixed before even going on boost, never mind trying to hit full BPU - otherwise you might see your engine go pop and there will be tears before bedtime Be sensible, work out what the problems are, and get them sorted. Then, and only then, chase any sort of power -Ian
