dcarrter21
The gap between the drive shaft flange and the diff is too much, pulled the prop out abit to extend it on the spline, no gap! But the bolts wont line up in the centre bearing bit of the prop. So.... Ive made the doughnut thicker the line the holes back up! Ill post pictures of it fitted tomorrow! pedrosixfour
Is it just me being stoopid or is that a very big fackin lump of metal to have spinning at such speeds as the prop shaft does?
dcarrter21
Its highly balanced!
dude
The problem is the prop is for a big diff and you have a small diff. The rubber donut is very dense and pretty heavy, you could lose a bit of weight from the new alloy one or just use the rear prop off a j spec auto. pedrosixfour
Its highly balanced! Its probably fine mate, I'm not doubting your skills in the least. And again, commendable work. Its possible that the pictures are throwing my judgement way out as it looks massive. But I do know the size of the normal coupler and I'll assume its not much bigger than that anyway. Chris Wilson
You may well find zinging and other resonances in the drive train without the rubber doughnut, and more shock loadings to diff and gearbox. The doughnut replacement sure loks pretty hough, your machining skills are getting right up my nose these last few days....

pedrosixfour
Ive got a spare head at work that im going to have a play with. Should be intresting!! From recent evidence there isn't much wrong with the one you have on your shoulders right now. I'd do ALOT of reading before you attempt to better Toyota's take on a well designed head though. I don't think There is much room for improvement on modern multi-valve cylinder head design without having an intimate knowledge of all things related to it. dcarrter21
So maybe a new billet head?
Swampy442
Id look at a 1JZ head and compare it to the 2JZ, 1.5JZ conversions used to be all the rage
