Looking for new laptop ram. Do I go generic or branded?

I'm looking for 2 x 2gb SODIMM DDR2 Synchronous 667 MHz (1.5 ns) modules to replace my 'no name' 2 x 1gb memory.

Looking at the prices for Kingston, Corsair and the like I see that I can make a saving by opting for generic 'no name' kit.

Is it a sensible saving or would I be better off in the long term by going for the quality stuff?

Also, I've tried Amazon, Dabs, Aria, Scan and Crucial. Anywhere else I can look that might be cheaper?

Thank you.

I have a couple of cheap 2GB sticks from 7dayshop.com

They are - Dane-Elec Value Laptop Memory - SO-DIMM DDR2 800Mhz (PC2-6400) - 2GB - UK'S VERY BEST PRICE!

Cost be the princely sum of £34 for the pair.

They don't seem to do them now, but I haven't had any issues with my Laptop.

Thanks guys. The general vibe and getting here and from the net is that branded is the way to go.

What about the Vista 32bit 4gb thing? Would the extra ram be wasted?

I'll not comment on the branded bit, but then I'm cheap.. :)

As for the Ram question, it's a little bit of yes and no.

You'll only be able to use 3.5(ish)GB of the Memory, but the system does use it in the background for various uses.
