q45 throttle body

just wondering if i buy a Q45 Throttle Body for a nissan skyline what will i need to do to convert it to suit a supra ?

Isnt the Q45 from the 300ZX?

 

You need a TPS adaptor and to make 'use' of the larger diameter you would really need to use an enlarged plenum

Greddy intake was built to take a Q45, you also need the TPS kit, part number 13910400.

 

Q45 comes from a Nissan Infiniti.

Should be, if not any machine shop could make one easy enough, its just a spacer.

Infiniti is fly by wire jamie, Q45 is from Z32 and Centra, IE earlier models, you wouldn't be able to use the later ones unless you add all the electronics and stepper motors.

I bought mine being advertised as a Infiniti Q45, maybe some never had dbw?

Sorry jamie:blush:, was thinking of only later Infiniti, you're right, as the earlier models they called Infiniti in the states where actually based on the JDM Sentra, Cedric, Gloria and Cima, and would of had cable throttle.

Do you need, or even want a bigger throttle plate area though? Two cheap boost gauges plumbed just before and just after the throttle plate on a stock set up will easiliy show if there's a meaningful pressure drop across it and it could do with being bigger. Needlessly increasing throttle plate area can give a trigger like low throttle opening response, and the the top third of the throttle travel doing little if anything at all. In conditions of low traction (he says looking out the window....) a linear and stable throttle response is very very desirable.
