tbourner
Do things exist that are beyond the realms of physics? No. Do forces exist that can’t be explained by conventional means? Yes.

stevie_b
bigcol, that course does sound pretty interesting. I share your views about this: I'm skeptical about most "supernatural" things and look for normal explanations. I also think all mediums are frauds. I remember reading Arthur C Clarke's World of Strange Powers book when I was younger (the title sounds cheesy now!). In the preface, I'll paraphrase him thus: "50% of the material in this book is either a scam or some other illusion. Unfortunately I can't tell you which 50%." This is my thoughts, but we could up up that figure to much nearer 100%. Some "supernatural" events (Victorian era usually) seem like blatant scams from the outset: probably with our greater understanding of science and worldly knowledge, we can see through them easier than the Victorians were able to do. For example, the ""fairies in the bottom of the garden" photos, ectoplasm (yes!) coming out of a medium's nose, etc. It's the other examples that are harder to reveal as frauds that are more interesting. If there's nothing in it, at the very least the investigators are advancing fraud detection techniques.
AndrewOW
No. Yes. That appraisal and pay rise is in the bag for you! I believe the truth is out there, and my sister is convinced she's a medium, but she's definitely larger than that.
jonathanc
Guys...how can you not believe? It's all over the TV. Most haunted, Twilight, Eclipse, X Files... the proof is out there!

Rob
Stuff The thing that annoys me about mediums, well, not really annoys, but anyway its the way everything is all lovely and nice in their afterworld. The story about the two gay chaps there for example. Wouldn't it have been far more believable if the medium had told him his mum was disgusted with him and she'd raised him to be a good boy and now god has told her he will burn in hell for being gay. In the rubbish mags my wife sometimes buys there are "medium" pages and its all "I never got to tell him how much I loved him" and so forth. I'd just love to read "Well, he always hated you, and says you'll never find the secret money now"
AndrewOW
So, even the medium's 'afterworld' is a kind of supernatural place too. It's all tosh, IMO. Unless it's not, then I'm buggered!
Matt H
I believe (not in ghosts) but then again I'm a religious nutjob If you're willing to believe in certain things that don't exist, how can you disregard others? Seems a bit hypocritical to me. Unless it's not, then I'm buggered! I bet you're hoping it's 'not' then, hey

Purity14
I sat down with a ghost once and we had some ethereal pie together. We talked for a while and it turns out he was a Compsognathus dinosaur, and he said he was my great xY grandfather, who I evolved from. Purity14
'Devolved from' I'd say Me sitting down with with a Dinosaur for tea is as likely as evolving from one Matt.

Josh
Septic, you're Muslim right? What does the Koran say is waiting in the afterlife? Does it say about reincarnation or living forever in a 'heaven' kind of place? I'm not questioning, I'm simply asking
