Steve
I have a Compaq netbook which I carry about for use on sites at work, the actual screen size is 1024 x 600 (iirc). Now I have a couple of programs which I use and they don't display properly due to the size. Is there some sort of software that can trick the laptop to display these programs properly? Hope that makes sense
GlennK
Steve, Try this: NB. This only works on Windows 7 equipped netbooks. Here’s what you have to do: 1) Run regedit 2) Search and modify all values “Display1_DownScalingSupported” from “0″ to “1″ 3) Restart the system 4) Enjoy the two new resolutions: 1024×768 px and 1152×864 px Now, when selecting a resolution in Windows you’ll get the extra resoutions above. However, be aware that these tweaks might not work on all netbooks...

GlennK
Try: AsTray Plus 1.4.0 BETA1 works on XP...http://www.netbookfiles.com/983/astray-plus-140-beta1/ Else if you had an Acer: a1ctl utility from http://nodadev.wordpress.com/pc-projects/a1ctl/ might be worth a try too...
