Nic
I want to get a safety harness/seat belt restraint for my sister's dog for Christmas. He's a large male black Lab and weighs nearly 8 stone. He is very well behaved in the back seat of the car, but he could really do with some form of restraint to stop him flying forwards in the event of an emergency stop or accident. Anyone on here use a seatbelt restraint for their dog, any recommendations or advice?
Chris Wilson
Load of tosh, dogs don't like being restrained, and I have yet to see a harness that looks like it would work without strangling the thing, or making doormen at hotels wonder what you get up to when he sees the straps on the back seat. Put it in the front, it has less inertia when it hits the screen It wants putting on a diet if it weighs nearly 8 stone, too

He wouldn't be fazed sitting or lying in back attached to a seat belt, like you say though I'm concerned about a harness doing more harm than good.. He's not overweight he's just a very big Labrador (yet to see a bigger one), he's trim/fit and swims everyday. http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/715/dscf2454.jpg http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2209/dscf24560.jpg ps. saying all that my old Lab use to ride in the back of my pick up with his ears blowing in the wind
Thorin
Unless he's as tall as our Great Dane, he's not 8 stone.

Sorry 7.5 stone, 48kg last time he was weighed at the vets, he's a similar size and build to a decent sized male rottweiler.
edge
Looks like a big fit boy. I have no experience on the harness as i dont like the idea. With all the slobber and mess ours make its the only reason we have an estate car
