Kilps
I'm after a bolt for a UK front brake caliper. I only need the one... rather worryingly, I lost one whilst driving! It made a scary 'clunk', then destroyed the pads when they started braking on the edge of the disc! I got one the other day but the thread is slightly stripped and, although I haven't actually tried it yet, I'm pretty sure it's stripped on the only bit that I actually need the thread on (the end where it screws into the bracket). If anyone has one kicking around, it'd be much appreciated On another note... what sort of gunk do I need to put on the bolts when I put it back together to stop them falling out again? Someone suggested Loctite, but someone else said that it'd be too strong and I'd have trouble getting it apart again if I wanted to (which I will in the summer to fit braided hoses)... any suggestions?? Or do they just need doing up really tight?
monsween
The j-spec bolts are the same as the uk ones AFAIK. My uk calipers are secured on with my j-spec bolts (jspec car)

Chris Wilson
If you go to any good engineers supplies a cap head of the right thread size will be just fine. Or a grade 8 hex head.
Kilps
Is there anything special about the bolts (i.e. high strength etc.) or do I just have to make sure they're the correct size? Does anyone know how much Mr T will want for a set of front and rear caliper bolts? And would anyone know part numbers??
Chris Wilson
Just ask for what I said above. Part number in image if you want OE ones.

nasoup
Never heard of anyone needing to locktight the calliper bolts, just make sure you torque them up correctly. If my memory serves me I believe the j-specs are 25nm but not sure if it's the same for the uk-spec, would have thought they were considering they both use the same bolt but best to check. Kilps
Thanks everyone I'll ask around and see what I can find. Crap i totally forgot to look, will do tonight mate. No problem mate, cheers _________ Edit: Just in case anybody comes along to use this thread for reference, this: If my memory serves me I believe the j-specs are 25nm but not sure if it's the same for the uk-spec ... is wrong. I have found the bolt on the J-Spec brakes that nasoup is referring to (which is actually 34 N•m (350 kgf•cm, 25 ft•lbf)), but it is a different bolt. See page 36 of this document for the correct settings (118 N•m (1200 kgf•cm, 87 ft•lbf) for the bolt I'm talking about). Don't want people under-tightening them and losing them like I did
