Havard
I'd get a new one or a PS3. I have had two 360's and neither has lasted more that 15 months. My current on works one day and then not the next.... I may go PS3 when this finally gives up the ghost...!! Microsoft have told me that the unit is out of warranty and they will charge for a repait even though it is only 16 months old..... H. Swampy442
Yeah you can fix it yourself, depends on the error code. Theres guides all ove t'inters but generally its the solder on the main processor, the X clamp comes loose and the motherboard warps breaking the solder on the processor. As above theres good deals on new xboxes about. Later versions of the old style console are much better.
paddynewman
Sounds b/s but take the dvd out, remove hard drive and leave the AV and power connected. Now wrap in 2 big thick bath towels, covering all the vents etc. Switch it on and let it overheat itself..should take about 20 mins tops. Let it cool and unwrap the towels... give it another go sounds ludicrous.. but it can and does work.. ive done it with mine, short term until you can find another cheap one
paddynewman
Later versions of the old style console are much better. They all still suffer unfortunately All board revisions went tits up, its the actual brand of solder, microsoft techleaks ftw. Its been solved in the slim consoles, brought in new designers and manufacturing plants. They tried to change the old revisions by increasing the amount of heat sinks and drawing heat away from the main CPU/GPU combo. Stupidly..they seem to have done it away from the rear fans
Benyon
I have always used/and sent people to 'Console wizard' the company is in bolton which is not to far from me, + they are very good and fast. Its decent price too however I have never had to pay for postage. http://www.consolewizard.co.uk/
