Guest alan3579
Hiya, I have a 96, UK spec TT, Fitted with Full decat, Blitz dsbc, induction kit, Iridium plugs, Upgraded smic, and some pipework. I have my dsbc set for around 1.2 bar of boost, and on occasion, usually on a cold morning, the boost can rocket up to 1.25 and I have seen 1.35 on it. So my questions are: 1. Is over 1.2 bar. i.e 1.35 / 1.4 bar to much for stock internals, fuelling and cooling? 2. Does the cold affect the pressure produced by the turbo increase in cold weather? Cheers
Nic
Cool air = denser air = more oxygen = bigger bang = higher boost. 1.4bar may be okay on the UK turbos, but not sure about the fueling and exhaust gas temps. Personally I'd turn the boost controller down so it is peaking at 1.2bar again to be on the safe side.
TonytotheB
Can you reduce duty cycle? I am not sure how that boost controller works but as mentioned, lower it just to be safe. Or avoid boosting in early morning conditions before the day has warmed up. Maybe if you can have programmes you can alter to low and high boost, depending on weather conditions. I have the AVCR and can do exactly that

I have the AVCR and can do exactly that I have 4 different settings at the moment, I only use 1, which is for cold and 4 which is for warm. Just wondering if 1.4 bar is gonna do any damage. monsween
As mentioned the turbo's "should" be good for 1.4bar but i'd still keep it at 1.2bar. As Nic mentioned check your EGT's and AFR's
