Ian C
Hi folks. My parents would like a new video camera for christmas, to replace their current brick of a device. There are many, many cameras in this price range, so I'm wondering what people on here have/can recommend? It needs to be light, have good battery life, and be of decent quality of both image and build. Doesn't need much in the way of gadgets and gimmicks, but image stabilisation is a must. It'd be great if it was solid state and you could just USB/firewire over the stuff to a computer I eagerly await your replies! Oh and if anyone knows of a good HDCam prosumer camera, give me a link so I can drool over it for myself -Ian
pistonbroke
Ian, this is the one I use for all my videos. Excellent value for money. It's on board stabilisation isn't brilliant, but learning how to hold it improves the footage no end. It's night time low light recording is also better than cameras worth considerably more. I researched youtube for proven recorded sample footage and ended up with this camera. http://www.camerabox.co.uk/product.asp?ProductName=Sanyo-Xacti-VPC-HD1010&ProductID=5620
Ian C
That looks ideal Thank you. I've checked out the specs on Sanyo's site and it's spot on - especially the "simple" mode for my mum and dad Is that shop you linked to any good? The price is decent and the bundles look very useful with the case, memory, and spare battery - have you used them before?
