TopgunTT
Hi guys, Just wondered if any of you have bought the Kinect for the xbox? If so what is it like? Cheers.
Swampy442
I havent personally but I have friends who do and they love it Ill be after one post Christmas Lets see what the PS3 fanboi's say about this then
pistonbroke
Nope, not going to either. The game stores have stacks of them being returned because they're rubbish. The ps3's move is better.
SUPRALAND
Its a cool thing for child game. For me, there is no way to play a racing car game the hand in the air,i need a remote or better a steering wheels in the hands:)
Septic
Yeah I'd rather have the PS Move. Its cheaper (although works out more if you take into account 4 players) and there is more scope for appeal for core gamers.
The-Plethora
I quite like what I have heard about you being able to mess about with the dashboard to run vids and stuff but unsure about games, seems way overpriced as well. £50 I would probably buy one. mplavery
Its the end of the Wii now i guess. Does look good but im in no rush to get it, the fact you have to buy the new Xbox to play it on is a pain in the ass. Is it about every 10 years the bring out a new console ??? what i dont want to do is buy the latest Xbox now and them release antoher one with it all built in or something

mplavery
i thought it only worked on the new XBOX, its only what i heard though
pistonbroke
It works on any xbox. The only difference is that the new xbox powers the inject via the cable, whereas on the older xbox it needs it own separate power cable.

st3ven1
Had a play with one for a few hours, excellent fun(beer was involved, so don't take this as gospel) Not that many games that I would consider buying for it at the moment. The face recognition is excellent once set up for the individual, automatically logging you in and out depending on who is in front of the tv. As for browsing the menus, at present you can only browse in game menus not the xbox dashboard, but I'm sure this will come. Where I think it excels is when used with the sky player through xbox, these menus you can navigate your way through without controller and best of all voice control of any program/movie you are watching. This works perfectly in my experience, you don't even have to train it to you voice, anyone in the room can control it. "xbox play....xbox pause....xbox fast forward......xbox zoom in on Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body" (ok, maybe not the last one) Honestly this never gets boring, any anyone you show will be impressed with the voice control. edd_t
I have one, its the nuts and a must. The fact that more hardcore games such as Forza4 are going to have kinect features makes it even better. Can wait until I'm playing some sort of COD game and shouting at the TV to get the AI team members to flank and stuff, Steel Battalion looks like it will be good too! Kinect isnt just planned for xbox, MS have been looking to downscale it so that can fit it into laptops etc and you control Win7 through it, they hope this will be deployed in 2012. fizzle
going round a mates this avo to check it out, he loves it, especially the sports games.. dont think it will lend itself to some games like driving ones etc, where a pad or wheel gives a better feel for the action! will update this evening after a couple of hours gaming!! JustGav
So finally, when leaning with the controller will ACTUALLY do something I'm not a game player, so I'm looking at using the kinetic as an image recognition system as well as gesture control (who knows it MAY even get plugged into my xbox if I ever ask for it back) EDIT : Whoops, appears I locked the thread at the same time.... oh dear that will get the fanbois up in arms
The-Plethora
So finally, when leaning with the controller will ACTUALLY do something I have vague memories of doing "the lean" on starwing on SNES back in the day, remarkably ineffective.
