Copying pics off Ebay?

Navigate to the page of the car auction. Then do: "File > Save Page As..." Enter a short filename in the box that appears. The default filename is probably not a valid filename (it'll contain disalloweed characters like slashes etc). Then using Windows Explorer (or similar) browse to the place on the hard disk where you saved the web page. That location will have a folder of the name you gave (if you specified a filename of "foo" the folder will be called "foo_files"). In that folder will be all the files that make the ebay web page work, including all the images. One of them will be the image you want, probably in jpeg format.

Not sure if this will capture all the photos at once if there are multiple photos.

Sorry to be a numpty but how do I do that with Windows 7? I saved the file to my desktop and it now appears as Josh.htm

I don't have Windows 7, but you can use any method you want to browse to the desktop. I guess, as it's the desktop, you'll just see the folder you want on the desktop itself ("Josh_files").

Pressing the Windows button on your keyboard and E at the same time brings up Windows Explorer on WinXP, might work for Win7 too if the above doesn't work.

is there a better way ? than to use paste

The reason you cant save the picture in your example is that the arrows are overlaying the image, so what your trying to do is save the link rather than the picture. If your using firefox you can download the web developer toolbar (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60/), which then enables you to just view all images on any pages and save them how you normally would.

On my Mac I would press 'command-shift-4', this would bring up cross hairs so I can select the area of the screen I want to copy, the image file would then be saved to my desktop ie. like doing a screen grab, but being able to select just a part of the screen.

Not sure if you are able to do a similar thing on your clunky old PC's.

I used an add-on for Firefox called Firebug to analyse the page you linked to. It's a web page analysis/debugging add-on, used primarily by web developers.

so since i use that car sensor a lot and am sick of using paste in paint..

can i just add firebug and firefox to my downloads and use it for this reason only ?

or can i use something with IE

There is a version of Firebug for IE, but in my experience it's more bother than it's worth (IIRC you need to add a line or two of code in order for it to work, in which case it would be useless for what you want). Not sure if there's an equivalent add-on for the latest IE.

The web developer toolbar that Shaun linked to might well be able to do a similar job. Same thing applies though: you'll need Firefox unless you can find an IE-equivalent.
