Racelogic TCS

Hi guys! Very interested in the racelogic TCS. Do many of you chaps in the U.K have it? Appreciate your input on the performance of the system? Does it make a big difference when launching hard? Are your 0-60mph times better? Does it keep the rear from fishtailing when changing gears especially 1st to 2nd? In general are you satisfied with it? Is it worth the buck?

P.S. saw a small clip on the racelogic website with a small z3?Any launch video of a BPU Supra?

Thanks!

Have a look on here (i.e. www.mkivsupra.net ) under resources multimedia studio.

If you do a search within this BBS for RLTC or Racelogic you will find *hit loads of info and opinions.

What Phil and Martin are saying is that although Racelogic will undoubtedly do a great job on the install, the supplied settings file that comes with the RLTC is not suitable really for the Supra.

Hopefully RL know this (!) and will install it with suitable settings.

The system is only as good as the parameters that it uses !  there are a lot of variables and the key parameters on the settings that come as default with RLTC need amending for a Supra.

eg.   no. of cylinders, the cut tables, the wheel sizes and no. of ABS sensors per revolution, etc.etc.    either way, one of us can check that that you've got good settings on your unit after install.    it's very easy to check and change the settings and, although there are quite a few, it all makes sense after referring to the RLTC manual !

hope this helps

cheers

hi Doughie

i have been seeing a few posts about the dat file and had an idea of the optimized settings you guys have sorted out.i was mainly concerned it is wired up correctly.and show me the basics of it.or better still get one of you guys to show me what it can do with the right settings.

i take it in just wanting to find out a few things while i am waiting.

is the launch function quick n easy to set up for drag racing to do 2000 rpm launches

in my auto doing power brake

is justins car 6 speed or auto

and the auto box if i later upgraded the stall convertot/torque convertor it would help on the launches

or have i got my wires crossed. i will let you know when i have it fitted

thanks for help

Yep, it's easy to use the launch function and also easy to change the rpm level at which launch control functions.   to change rpm, just press the button twice, hold it in, and rev to the desired level and then let the green button go, and that will set the rpm level for launch.

Dry track, high grip tarmac, 4000rpm is about right.

dry track, lower grip tarmac, about 3000rpm.

Wet track, about 2000rpm is right.    If you dial in more rpm than the grip available then you'll sit there spinning wheels.

- Ya cannae change the laws of physics, Jim

Justin's got an auto.    I've got a 6-speed.  Phil Wall's got an auto.   Martin Fahie's got a 6-speed. (i think)

on the auto-box upgrade you'll have to ask someone else on that one, but i believe, yes, it will help cope with big power. (Leon being the ultimate example).

Quote: from randy on 6:17 am on Mar. 5, 2002[br]Hey guys! What happened to the numbers? The numbers make the difference to me! How much better does it control wheel spin when launching Vs me/you at on the throttle? No figures 1/4mile 0-60?

I think that RLTC cars will be appearing on the drag strip when the weather picks up, so figures should start coming in in the next few months.

Gavin! you have RLTC on your car dont you? how does it feel driving the car with it on? Also I saw the video of the supra with RL installed it made a strange noise when shifting 1st to 2nd  what is that sound? Like rattle!

OK Confession time!!!

That was my Supe and me hitting the rev limiter, as i didn't change up quickly enough.

Only excuse i can think of is that i hadn't had the car that long.

I know, I know, poor excuse!!

Hey martin! I was wondering what the loud sound was! cause the sound seemed to scare me thinking what? The traction cotrol makes that much noise? But then I played the video of you taking off several times realised there was no sound when you were launching.

Anyway how are you finding it? Are your takeoffs quicker?

The most impressive advantage I've noticed  so far with the RLTC fitted is that you can power out of corners much earlier than before without the back end letting go. All the power is just laid down through the tyres, making the car feel so much quicker and controllable when things get twisty. I had some fun last night following a Scooby on a very bendy section of road, where as before he would have had the advantage, this time I could stick right on the back of him no problem.

The other big bonus is less tyre wear, which at £220 per rear tyre it will pay for itself in a couple of years.

Can't wait until it rains now so I can give it a real challenge, big BHP, wet roads should be fun seeing how it performs :)

cheers
