CJ
My son is looking to buy a Saxo VTR. It has covered 69k miles and we believe that the cam belt will need changing at 72k and so we are wondering what sort of cost this is likely to be. Anyone have any idea? nevins
Vtr are 8 Valve engines it is a simple job to do yourself if you are mechanically minded. A belt will cost maximum of £30 depending brand. Its a case of removing the timing cover which is held on with 10mm bolts, trolley jack with a block of wood on the sump to hold the engine while you take the engine mount off, lock the pulleys with some 8mm threaded bolts. Release the tensioner and slide off the old and on with the new.

As Josh will be back in Merthyr when he gets the car, he may just give you a shout to talk him though it

I / he might just take you up on that. We are home next week (me for 2 weeks - Josh for keeps) and providing he buys the car he may just get in touch with you for advice.
