Been with SKY for a few years now with the Supra since i get a good deal and i have also been insuring my run around which was a 306 diesel with they were charging me around £300 to £400 which was about right

About 3 months in my new policy with the 306 i bought a 307 Diesel which i informed them of which worked out about £500 which i thought was expensive for a 307 Diesel. So i said i would def hunt around when its due for renewal

Just had my renewal from sky ......................................................................£963.95 !!!!!!

Im 31 with 4 years no claims on the 307 and 6 with the Supra

My Supra is half that...you did make me laugh though guys

Maybe just a simple phone call to me saying we cant do a good deal on your car would of been better then taken the micky mouse

mmmmmm i will have a little look round before i go with that me thinks lol

i had the same thing! my renewal came in at £845 for a 307 diesel estate!! im 28 with 4 years NCB and no convictions etc! i called them and manged to get a sensible price but still paying more than last year!!

I think its disgusting,

Says on the top of the renewal " BEST POLICY, BEST PRICE..LOL , BEST SERVICE

There must be some small print saying this is only true if you call up and haggle with the price, ps if you dont cancel we are taken the huge amount of money anyways

I have always defended SKY as I have had cars with them for years (still have 2) but they quoted me well over £1400 for my Vette on limited mileage a couple of weeks ago over double on last year, no attempt to get me a better quote even after a phone call, I have even tried to get the cars on one policy with them but they could not help, will let my other 2 policies run out and not use them again

So they are taking the pi$$ with their initial quotes?

They wouldn't quote me as I am north of Brighton, I don't see why they have a problem with Manchester/Bolton but I wouldn't bother ringing them again.

Got my TT out on my drive for £293.00 with Lynbrook, happy days..!!

That's two years in the row that Sky can't offer competitive quotes for my Skyline. They're way off the competition. At the end of the day they're just a broker and it seems that they are not working with competitive underwritters, I read left right and centre that they're always too expensive. I suppose they don't really care but neither do I :) Been with A-Plan the past two years and very happy with the whole process each time.

I have my civic insured with them just now (run about) and I had mentioned them to my dad to use on his E60 520d BMW.

My Dad is 56 years old and has never had a crash or convictions and covers 7000miles a year if he's lucky but was still quoted £688 by Sky, which was blown outta the water by DirectLine who insured himself and my mother for £310 with £0 excess, protected no claims, like for like rental car, and break down cover.

I reckon I will be leaving Sky this month for sure and insuring my civic elsewhere

my new broker doesnt do that, thats why i left Sky after 3 yrs as i got silly renewals, called my new broker and they beat them 1st time by a mile, i agree it pays to shop around and thats how the insurance game appears to work but sky seem to take it to another level and your not chasing a few ££'s but hundreds

A few comments here in response to the feedback.

We specialise in modified and import car insurance. Whilst we can insure standard UK cars like some mentioned here, sometimes we cannot compete against the big boys, there is a highly competitive market for standard UK car insurance.. it works both ways though, mostly the big boys cannot compete against us for a lot of non standard car insurance.

We regards to the usual why are we the club insurers comment - the simply fact is (and I dont mean this to sound arrogant), for the majority of club members, we are the most competitive for Supra Insurance, we insure Supras in very high volumes, more so than other UK specialists. We cannot however beat every single price out there and it is unfair to expect we can. You'll find , time and time again it is the customers we cannot help who are vocal about this. Understandable, nobody likes paying for insurance so it is rare people will leave you postitive feedback but people will always be quick to criticise.

With regards to not insuring up North, well that is a little ridiculous, sure we have some postcode exclusions and extra critera but this is not just up north, we have a many, many happy customers who live orth of the watford gap, or north of Brighton.

I dealt with similar feedback recently on the Celica Club, not sure if you can view this or not:

There are a couple of members who have comment on this thread who I will PM and look into their cases and try and help or if we cannot help will offer an explanation as to why.

Kind regards

The simple explantion is that we have lost a discounted scheme with the one company we used for standard UK car insurance, unfortunately now we can only use our 'screen rate' products which in this case are not competitive.

I would like to look into this though so I will PM you in a moment.

Thanks

I once rang sky and they said they dont do "up north".

To be honest, I very much doubt that any of our agents would say that but we do not insure in the 'L' Liverpool postcode area due to the horrendous claims loss ratio in the area. If your underwriters are paying out £2.50 for every £1 they take through premiums, you can understand them pulling our discounted scheme in that particular postcode area.

As I say the one company we used and offered us a discounted scheme for standard UK car insurance have pulled our scheme and pulled out of the private car insurance market.

Nine times out of ten we cannot insure standard UK cars on our car club scheme, this is reserved for import/modified/performance cars only.. there is a bit of a trend here with the feedback, standard UK cars.
