Idiots parking in front of my drive

It's come to that time of the year again when the yellow lines now lose their powers on my road and people can happily park wherever they like. Unfortunately this means inconsiderate idiots park just so it's impossible for me to exit my drive.

As long as it's impossible to exit my drive, is it possible to get them towed away? There is no white line across my drive and it's not directly across the opening but there is not a chance in hell I can exit the drive without damaging either my car or theirs.

I've left a note on the car saying that they are inconsiderate and if caught again, they will be towed away (they did the same thing last year and ignored my notes). I mean, it's an idle threat, but if I can really do that - then I shall go ahead.

Here's a pic:

It's only a small car. Get some friends together and tip it over. They won't do it again.

See if you can catch the driver or maybe buy yourself a clamp and pop it on the car. Charge them to take it off but give them a good bollocking for parking there before you do.

In that picture it doesn't look like he's actually blocking your drive, unless you want to exit via a bit of a jaunty angle. If you were going through the gate at 90 degrees to the road, would he be blocking it then?

The road isn't really big enough for two cars, so he's actually making it difficult for cars coming round too. As I said, I could get out, if I was to damage mine or his car.

If you look at the actual road it does look like a tricky one to get out of. Maybe if you knock that wall down and dig out some of your front lawn!! :D

Are you that cars owner? That's quite creepy... :D

Can you see how stupid it is to have a single yellow up until that point?

Not if the road sign is invisible. :D

Have you been on this road before? Now you can pay me a visit. :D

I've never even been to the Isle!! :D It took me 10 mins of scanning google maps for a suitable piece of white cliff that could be viewed from that angle, then that home across the road was a dead giveaway! :D I made sure I didn't have anything too obvious on my pic for other people to find it, they'll have to go through what I went through. :p

Nice looking house you have BTW.

I have a similar problem when I'm at Lucy's. No one actually parks obstructing the drop kerb but they park either side and opposite. The road is very narrow and with cars parked on both sides, there is only just enough room to drive straight down. On a Sunday night, I usually have to execute an 8-point turn to be able to get out onto the road.

Sometimes it makes you wish you drove a shitty old 4x4 so you could just barge past the ignorant plebs.

Some form of huge 4-wheel trolley jack would be nice - then you could place it under the offending car, jack it up and push it out the way :)

This happened to me a few years ago. I rang the police but they said as it's a small civil issue they wouldn't come out, but they did say that I was within my rights to move the offending vehicle as long as I didn't damage it. I think he said the argument to use was I being entrapped, which apparently is illegal????

put up a notice saying unauthorised cars will be clamped, next time it happens, clamp the S.O.B and charge him £150... then send me £100 for giving you such good advice :D

Correct me if I am wrong but the guy is parking on a public highway. Presumably clamping on a public highway would thus be break the law.

More sensible approach would be to take lots of pics and forward them to the local council showing how muppett is not only blocking your drive but parking on yellows. Ask council to enforce the law. They may either send a warden around or issue a fine off the back of your photos. Same with parking on the kerb. Repeat exercise every time he does it so he gets multiple fines. (Suggest type letter with gaps for date and time) and repeat accordinly. If anything they might act just to stop you sending letters!

Correct, I cannot clamp because it is against the law.

And the single yellow line is only in force between May and September. It's free to park along there. But it seems ridiculous to allow this in such a stupid place.

I contacted the council last year about it and they couldn't understand what my problem was. They started going on about how the yellow lines work and where it runs. Bloody useless, I tell you!

I've thought about slicing some rubber up but I'd be better off clamping.

but....i like taking the law into my own hands rather than chasing some jobsworth to do it for me.
