Chris Wilson
I am sick of paying £39 a month rental on a small size bottle of nitrogen I use irreularly for re gassing dampers. i want to find someone willing to pump out the nitrogen into another empty bottle I actually own. Does anyone here have, or know of someone able and willing to do this, for a price? Just a basic transfer pipe between the two bottles will waste a lot of gas as you just end up with two half full bottles. Thanks.
dangerous brain
To get it straight you want to put gas from one bottle you don't own to the same size bottle you do own? You really aren't going to get any more than half that gas from one cylinder to the other without extremely serious gear. You are talking 3000 psi here. That's no half assed pump you are talking about! If I was anywhere near you I could charge your bottle at work gratis. Maybe if you know anyone on here that is an aircraft technician up your way they could do that for you. How many litres is this bottle anyways? Chris Wilson
Not sure on capacity, it's about 9 inch diameter and 30 inches high, guesstimating. The bottle I own is similar size, I know what you mean about only half full, when I used to run Nitrous on some engines de canting with just a pipe was wasteful, but I had someone in the medical gasses business who'd pump it for me. They are now enshrouded in Health and safety *rap and can't do it Where abouts are you? I travel about a lot Thanks.

Any one that is a technician on here at a RAF base will be able to fill it for you easy enough. How much does an N2 pump rated to 300 bar cost to hire then? monsween
Might be worth contacting some offshore suppliers too as we use alot of N2 pumps
Chris Wilson
On another forum someone sent this reply, which I am investigating tomorrow, but the tiny bottle size is limiting: Hi I can't provide a direct answer to your problem, but I know how you can avoid the monthly rental; just use these people as you only pay a one-off deposit of £50 and no rental: http://www.adamsgas.co.uk/stat_ind_product.aspx?ctrl=argon An Nitrogen refils are only £23 + delivery and vat for 9 litres at current prices. Enough to refill a lot of dampers!
