ronttuk
my cruse control sometimes doesn't work, the active spoiler sometimes goes a bit nuts and the traction control sometimes flashes, am i right in guessing ive probably got a wheel sensor playing up or could there be anoher cause??? CanisLupus
The Spoiler gets the signal from the Speed Sensor from the Gear box as far as i know. Do you have a SLD fitted? Maybe it's on it's way out if you do.
ronttuk
its a uk model so no sld fitted
CanisLupus
Then maybe the speed sensor at the Gearbox itself. Edit: Don't know if yours is a 6Speed
ronttuk
mines an auto , does the gearbox speed sensor work on traction control, cruise control and the front spoiler ?? as it is these that played up the last cpl of days but all seem ok today
CanisLupus
I do think it all works together with the ABS Sensors. When my SLD had gone i had bouncing speed inputs to the ECU(0-14000km/h in 2secs ) and my Spoiler has been going down and up and the Traction Control Light started flashing. I would try to test all Sensors and wires from them to be 100% sure before changing anything.
snuf
Hi This happened to my 1996 uk spec mk4. The problem was dry soldered joints in odometer unit. This will not effect the odometer or the speedometer (I also got the overdrive light flashing) if pos. try a replacement unit, if not remove and open up the unit. Using a 1mm (or less) soldering iron, blanket solder all the smd components, including transistors TR102 and TR103.This amounts to aprox. 13 components under the socket. You can do the others above the socket if you want.
Terminator
If you end up looking further than the Oddo, I have an auto speed sender for the box, if you want to try it, to eliminate the sender as a problem. Drop me an email if you want it as I don't get on here much these days.
Ian C
You can run an ABS diagnostic to check if any fault codes have been stored regarding wheels speed sensors. Run a normal ECU diagnostic check to see if there are any codes stored regarding the gearbox speed sensor ABS diags: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?43914-ABS-light-and-Slip-Cont-PLEEEEAse-help&p=517078&viewfull=1#post517078 More ABS stuff: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?210087-ABS-Warning-light-help-please ECU diags: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35920-How-To-Check-the-diagnostics-codes

Thanks snuff when i went out in the supra this week 1st time for weeks the overdrive light did flash its never happened before so maybe you've found the cause.
