monsween
I think you need to get the trans tunnel welding in aswell as changing the box over, could be wrong tho
redsupraman82
so there is some welding involved??
Swampy442
There is welding for the 6 speed but not for the W58, theres a complete conversion for sale on here at the mo. Its fairly tricky, you need to cut a hole in the bulkhead, install a clutch cylinder and hydraulic lines, piss about with wiring, remove/modify pedals so not for the novice really. Lude
patience is a virtue! i have done an auto to manual conversion, on my Fairlady Z tho, pedal was potchy, pain int the arse bleeding the clutch etc, if you take your time on it and dont rush itl pay off

By cutting a hole in the bulkhead, if you mean for the clutch pedal, it's already there so no cutting required. The only cutting required is for the replacement of the transmission tunnel. Homer
Just to add - it's not necessary to weld in a new trans plate (though would be good if you have the tools). It's enough to bolt and bond it in place. I don't think the stock plate is welded in from the factory either. One other thing that's often missed on these threads is a support bracket for the clutch slave line needs to be made under the car, this is welded in on the factory cars, bur could be safely done by a bolt. Provided you have some good jacks and ideally a geabox jack it should be a reasonable job for a competent DIYer. The only thing you may need a professional to do is allign the prop shaft mounting shims

I needed to drill out the two holes for the clutch master mounting bolts to go through on my '94 car, the centre where the arm goes through only had a gromet as Tony mentions. It easy though as the two drill holes are already stamped into the bulkhead sheet metal.

redsupraman82
Thanks guys I will I would just give it to someone to do for me but like I said I want to learn it's not just cutting the cost of getting someone to fit it, I just want the sense of achievement doing it myself if that makes sense??
