The Raven
Yes its that time of the year again. Insulation has gone mad. Dispite the fact that in the summer they could have saved over £100 on the install price people are now in a blind panic. Gas prices rise, frost comes in and by all accounts if they dont have it by christmas the end of the world may well come about. I even tried to get rid of a real PITA loft install the other day by over pricing it only to have the price taken. People getting quoted now are getting install dates in the new year, and you should hear them moan! most of them are getting it for free to! Ive now been working 18 days straight. come noon im working again. Yet in the summer i work a 3 day week.

kjgreen3
Just be glad you are in work and by all accounts its a booming trade this time of the year. I was out of work for four months last year, that is a time to rant. Since gas prices are rising why not do the same with your quotes since your workload seems to be season dependant. Hell at least you won't be cold at work (itchy maybe!). Ive been laying drainage all last week that was fun.

The Raven
Well done H i wish the people here where the same. I dont mind the work, i just dislike the "i want it now" types. They get a quote alot of times its free then phone the office expecting someone to be over the next day to do it. When offered a date in late Dec, say the 16th one of the said "huh what! why! its cold" To which the office said "is that ok" The reply. "well it will have to be" Never mind the fact hes getting around £900s worth of work done for free.......
Scott
I'm not in a rush to have the work done, but just as a side note, how do you get the work done for nothing? Is it a government scheme?
The Raven
I'm not in a rush to have the work done, but just as a side note, how do you get the work done for nothing? Is it a government scheme? The energy company pays for it. You need to be over 70 on on certain income based benifits. Failing that you get a part grant and have to pay £199 yourself and the grant picks up the rest. Unless you get me come round and i dont want to do your job then i will try and price myself out of it. You dont think this goverment has any money to throw around do you? edge
Supply and demand. If you can price crappy jobs to put a smile on your face then just think of the money. So many people out of work or struggling this time of year. We get a xmas rush so we get stressed but earn nothing extra apart from all the customers moaning. It is thier own fault for not booking the work in advance but alot of the public are complete morons. Ps. i hate the public And like you said its the ones who get the work done for free seem to moan the most when i'm the one paying for it out of taxes.
