Scott
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-dyno-tuning-results/447351-highest-hp-4g63-engine-2007-a.html What do you guys make of this? I spotted it on SF and I am really underwhelmed by the power curve. This car appears to be absolutely useless. The power comes in at a ridculous time for an AWD car. Obviously I don't know anything about truely fast cars so am I reading the graph wrong, or is it actually hopeless?
JamieP
Dont look to bad to me, dynos always make cars look worse for lag, on the 37psi run its making 1200ftlb at 6500rpm, on the street its most likely making that at 5500rpm
davej705
Possibly a stupid question but in them pics at the bottom is the engine normally that way in an Evo? Looks sideways to me...
Chris Wilson
For a heavy road car a power and torque curve like that are useless. maybe it's OK for a drag car where they give it a sniff of NO to get it spooled, I don't know. Everyone these days seems caught in a spiral of huge HP figures. They have their place in lightweight race cars geared to suit, but when people attempt to use many of these engines in a road car they disappoint due to the massive lag and narrow power band. For a genuine road car over 900Kgs all you need to remember is area under the power curve is what you are looking for, IMHO.
