looks nice all together. Now show us what it looks like in the car.

Cheers Barney, I wish that job was next on the list.

Cables to make,

hybrid transmission to build and test,

T.T. auto diff to rebuild and fit,

pre radiators and pump to fit,

hydrogen generators etc. to fit,

water/meth tank, pipes and pump to fit,

EGT and boost gauges to fit,

fabricate a cold air box for the filter

and make a bonnet that will go over it.

Then bolt on the supercharger.

very nice.

and i may have missied it but what is this hybrid tranmission you are creating?

I am also building an N/A A340E - T.T. A343E manualised automatic transmission hybrid, good for 500ftlbs + and Suprastick compatible, so I can keep my 'flappy paddle' gear change.

:yeahthat:

Is there a reson the plenum is so big or was it just ease of manufacture?

Do you mean the lump on top? That's the charge cooler.

Good to see this coming together now David. Have to admit I didn't really understand what you were trying to do with all the fab work until the last few weeks updates

That is beautiful mate :) Is there a reson the plenum is so big or was it just ease of manufacture?

Thank you for the compliment, I am chuffed with the result. :)

I hope Homer answered your question.

No-one could really understand what I was doing until I had done it!

This has been constructed without drawings from a plan in my head and almost without use of a tape measure.

The components sourced are the closest I could find to what I needed to fit and avoid reinventing wheels, then 'adjusted' with the angle grinder to become a piece of the 3D jigsaw.

Space has been premium and components simply located where they would fit, even so, it has been built for ease of maintenence.

The jig engine only tells half the tale, the conversion follows the lines of the inner wings and chassis rail.

It's more like an epic half-build at the mo.

There are a couple of minor things to attend to, a leaky bypass valve butterfly and need a slightly longer hose on the back of it.

The bonnet will be a challenge because the swirl pot is in conflict with the main rail at the back, but can't fit it much lower.

Hopefully the transmission can be hybridised in a day once I have managed to get it up from Portsmouth and the multiple installations of pre rads, water/meth and HHO will begin when the weather improves a little more.

The sun is shining, I can feel my fingers and see what I am doing. :)

The build includes swopping the present 4.083 Torsen for a T.T. auto 3.769 Torsen.

This is now cleaned up, has new oil seals and a coat of paint.

Done and dusted, ready to go in.

It made a pleasant change to start and finish a job in a session.

I don't have the donor N/A trans for the hybrid yet and I think the bonnet is getting worried. ;)

I have been having a final tinker with the fit and function of all the components, a little filing, grinding, shimming, trimming of hose lengths, finding some hose clips and treating the ICV to it's very own little K&N filter. :)

I have improved the fit of the bypass valve butterfly, yet sure I can better it yet.

Assembling these perfectly fitting bespoke components that were formed by my own hand is quite satisfying.

I fitted the final water/meth nozzle, and put it back together with it's new piggy-back K&N, finished off the insulation, (the centre section is on-and-offable for installation) tidied up the oil breather plumbing and had a transmission cable route mock-up.

The stock N/A trans cable is about 1" too short to reach, maybe I can find a way to gain a bit?

Just the Jag XKR Supercharger bypass valve to replace.

I will ask the Main dealer for a price, but the one I have now was new and a dud.

Let me know if you spot a used one, they are thin on the ground on ebay at this time.

Good news is; I will be picking the donor N/A trans up on 4th April. :)
