I have a 1996 automatic and theres a knocking on acceleration its been in the car since I bought it last month and I now want to sort it out once and for all so I am looking ideas to what it might be or what to check .... When cruising along at a steady speed and if I go on the accelerator with a quick boot theres a kicking (knocking )feeling towards the back of the car around the back axle... If you go on, off, on, off really quick with the accelerator you can really feel it... The pervious owner did say he replaced the diff could it be diff mounts or something like that

I would check the rear subframe bolts, as well as the diff mounting bolts, they should be done up very tight, cant remember the figure, but it is large FTlb so you need a good torque wrench. I would also check the universal joint where they join the diff, also the prop bolts to the diff. The sub frame bolts both front and back are a regular service check, but they often get forgotten.
