Not quite. Just helicopters and landing and weather and sea.

we got hit a 60ft wave at the start of the year, it was a monster! went right over the top of the ship, knocked out alot of radio equipment and etc and i got soacked cause i was standing out the back having a sneaky smoke :( wave came over and soaked me like a waterfall :( good thing about waves like that, you dont encounter them alot

The only experience I've had with really rough sea is travelling from Newcastle to Amsterdam on an overnight ferry. It was the worst sea journey of my life. I thought the boat was going to fall over at one point, the staff were worried too which doesn't help.

The second night we decided the best way to deal with it was to get drunk and dance to Bros in the disco, it was just my friend and I because everyone else was puking up in their rooms. Much better approach.

well we were getting the ship all ready yesterday for sailing tonight and then something happened.........

Quote from a local newspaper......

Oil ship and ferry crash at Aberdeen Harbour

Oil support vessel collides with ship

AN OIL supply vessel crashed into a ferry preparing to sail from Aberdeen Harbour.

The NorthLink ferry MV Hrossey was left with two holes in its hull after an oil support vessel crashed into it, while it was berthed in Aberdeen Harbour.

The ferry had been scheduled to depart from Aberdeen for Lerwick at 7pm this evening but the journey was cancelled.

Damn! Hope no ones hurt!

I love Orkney, been there a couple of times in the last couple of months :) Although I flew up! Love the food, and the Dark Island ale!

One chap I met there was getting the ferry from Kirkwall to Shetland, I think it was the worst nights sleep he ever had :D

Bloody he'll dude, all alright?

the 2 "wounds" in the side of the ship were about 1-1.5m squared and right in the middle of the 2 there are nice half metre long holes in our hull, can see straight through to the car deck and vice versa looking out, if we did sail, there is no doubt cause its just above the water line that it will get flooded pretty quick. the estimate for the damage to out vessel is around the £40k mark (thats including repairs and call outs) the maersk vessel that hit us has buckled and nearly ripped of its support barriers that go over the edge to protect it. it was the skipper of the mearsk vessel's fault and it was down to his first trip being skipper of the vessel and mis-hearing a radio call.

Hehe, sadly my only choice is to get in and out asap due to work :) It's a long days travel for me even flying up! and maybe if I was a sadist I'd take the boat, especially this time of year lol :D

Compared to lager, Dark Island is heavy going I guess, but lovely tasting :) I'm a real ale fan... so like finding gems like that on my travels :)

Missed out on a trip to Shetland so no, not tried any of their stuff. A colleague is going up next week actually :) I've had the Red MacGregor, Northern Light and Scapa Special, all of which I liked, but not as much as Dark Island. There was another called Skull Splitter that I was suggested I give a go.. but I think its one of those insane 9-12% beers , so I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. :D
