"the Supra Turbo, which was sold here from 1987 to 1999" - fail.

"If Toyota put the same soul and ^passion into the rest of its cars, the company would be unbeatable" - what a stupid comment. I'm not sure about you chaps, but a Yaris that costs £400k is not appealing.

i would be so happy if they made a propa mk5 supra. it must come standard with a single 2jz engine :D

THEY HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY! lol

So you're saying they have the technology to get the 2JZ engine out of the archives and put it in a new shape car? Why? If a MK5 supra was built, which, in this climate is probably unlikly :( it probably would be overflowing with gadgets and the like.

He said "Here", as in the USA.

He said passion, not price tag.

P.s, I thought the LFA was a big let down for its price tag? That Ferrari must be pants.

It's all to do with the pricing. A 400k toyota should be the equivilant of a 1m Ferrari. The LFA is an amazing car, looking at every review, it is still a toyota though which is where the pricing really lets it down.

Passion = effort = cost = price tag.

It's irrelevant what badge it's got on it, if it's selling for 400k, is should be able to trump cars that are much cheaper than it. From what I've seen, the LFA is not amazing. It could have technology pouring out of it but the facts are it doesn't perform. There was an Autocar shoot out a while ago between various cars and the LFA's performance was frankly embarrasing.

That is an opinion, not a fact. Ford are now making fantastic cars compared to what they used to, for the basically the same money (in some cases less).

Of course it isn't irrelevant. Prestige is something you pay for, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin etc etc etc. The list goes on. The Nissan GTR is a prime example of what you are talking about, how many cars can trump it that cost more?

Money is irrelevant when comparing 100k+ cars. It's the reason Toyota branded the car a Lexus.

If 'someone' puts passion into something, 9 times out of 10 it's gonna require more effort, more time. And time = money. The readers comment about Toyota's passion is an opinion, your statement about Ford is an opinion. You'd argue the sky isn't blue.

I don't know what your point is. I think you're confused about what my point was in the first post. Basically, I'd not be forking out £400k on the lexus. Not because it has a badge on it that doesn't have a prestige, but because it does not perform well enough for £400k. Simple as that. Also, I don't think it looks that amazing either.

It isn't a fact that Ford make far better, more reliable cars than they did previously?

Do you have any idea how much developing a new car actually costs? It's way into the 100's of millions, so I don't think expecting some passion to go along with that pricetag is a lot to ask for. Saying that adding passion to the job you do is an optional extra is just ridiculous.

Ok, I'll repeat myself and rephrase what you have wrote so that you can understand the question.

Does a Bently perform well enough for you for its price tag? What about a Rolls-Royce? Maybach? Aston Martin?

My point is that cost does not = performance. Look at the cars on this forums as a perfect example. Cost can be down to a multitude of things. I don't see £400k ever being acceptable for a lexus, even if it blew a Veyron away it still wouldn't cut it for that cost.
