I think she's a fair choice. I also think many of you will get swept along by the pageantry and euphoria when the time comes! Let's see if I'm correct... :)

I suppose it would be interesting if William had chosen someone even more ordinary (had an ordinary job, etc etc), but that was never likely to happen.

Apparently Kate helped William when he was at uni, so her qualities extend further than merely being easy on the eye.

her work CV has been all but none existent

In that case she'll probably be well suited to being a queen. Her job (if she gets it) will be to look nice and charming on William's arm. I think she will do a good job of that.

On another note, as for representing 'us' around the world, I think Britain could do various more significant things to improve the way we are viewed.

I think it's sad the some of we British living here in these Isles seem to play down the Royal family's importance. For example, to many in the Commonwealth, the love and respect for, and general appreciation of them that is still huge. I blame left wing teachers of the sixties who in a fit of pique and probably jealousy decided to write them off. they are still here, and will be for a long time yet, thank God. They are far from perfect but nonetheless such traditions are abandoned only once, there's no going back. If there's one thing, (apart from motorsport engineering of course :)), we are good at, it's Royal pageantry, and its income to GB is immense.

You're talking about people thinking more about the Royal family but then in the same breath you are dissing William's choice for a potential future queen - a person that the current generation might relate to.

I think you're wrong anyway - I think a lot of people view William and Harry very highly in terms of how well they gel with the general public, their appearances at things like the Diana memorial gig and other such events made them a real hit with the under 30s and of course Prince Charles Princes Trust stuff is always very popular.

Even the likes of Princess Beatrice who is making waves in fashion and is much sort after for clothing appearances - although that might not be worthy in your eyes.

The fact that William has chosen someone that is down to earth by all appearances will only stand him in good stead.

Lets face it, the Royals need to bend and adjust to the ways of the world, in the same way everyone else in the public eye does. That doesn't mean they have to break with tradition too much but they have to relate to people.

The main point is the romance of it all and the fact that we will have a stunning princess, a veritable modern day fairy tale, yada yada yada...

All good for tourism and bringing money into the country, and if they love each other then what the fook does it really have to do with anyone else?

For once, I agree with Charlotte. I would need to see some pics to see if she's "worth a squirt"..!! (Kate Middleton I mean.!)

I have no idea who this woman is? I always thought the Royal boys were chutney ferrets anyway..!!

(just to let you know i have actually moved so you cant brick my windows or have me thrown in the tower)

I was going to say exactly the same thing, by the time we get to the wedding the majority of the populous will be hanging on every media word, buying souvenirs and getting all excited about the big day, street parties? I remember the Charles and Diana hype, made me sick. We wanted nothing to do with the hysteria. We had other plans for the national event. On the wedding day we got some friends together and went to a deserted bit of coast and had a great day in the sea, on the beach and in the dunes, it was a most memorable day, no radio no TV NO WEDDING.
