Chris Wilson
What is the matter with the British Royal family these days?? Do they never learn? It's not that long since we fortuitously lost Diana, now they have announced the marriage of Prince William to another lightweight bimbo, the feckless, dim and almost groupie like Kate Middleton. Talk about not learning from your mistakes. Only ever had one job, which was contrived by a family friend, very mediocre educational results and a youth seemingly spent stalking her prey to the altar to the point of embarrassment. Compare and contrast with ex HM Queen Noor of Jordan. If a dump like Jordan can get someone like her on the throne surely William could have found something a little more cerebral and with a less contentious family background, that WILL out

garethr
I suspect that anyone capable of intelligent thought wouldn't want the job. Sure, the palaces are nice, but she'll spend the rest of her life doing what other people want her to do. It must be very difficult to do that if you haven't been taught your "duty" from the cradle. Ark
As long as I don't have to help pay for the wedding...hang about, that's exactly what I'm going to be forced to do! Since royal marriages seem to be a guaranteed failure these days, why didn't he do the honest thing and do it with a bunnygirl?
Charlotte
The only thing I care about with regard to this is do we get a national holiday when they get married? Matt H
Who in the heck cares? Could not care less. Sooo many more meaningful things to worry about. Does the Royal Family matter to anyone nowadays? The only thing I care about with regard to this is do we get a national holiday when they get married? That's what we were just saying in the office. There was one for Prince Charles. In that case, I do care and hope they get married soon!

CJ
Don't retired people have most of ther time off anyway? 7 nights a week for 6 months in the summer and 5 nights a week in the winter. Chris Wilson
Of course I care, every where in the world the Royal family go they represent you and I, the State and all that Great Britain stands for. I don't want to be represented by a bimbo, surely with all that goes with marrying into Royalty he could have found someone to inject a few brainy genes into future generations? Hell, dog breeders spend longer and take more care over who they mate their bitch to than seems to to be the case with Royal couplings these days. We need to get them some decent geneticists as advisers, and fast! The same goes for the man in the street, "she's fit" seems as far as they take their genetic pondering

MARTIN R
I may be in the minority but I think Bimbo is harsh, she seems Ok to me and in fairness her intelligence would exceed a lot of people on this forum:D.
Chris Wilson
That's as may be, but who on the forum is a future Queen? (I may have phrased that badly, we'll see who is brave enough to suggest what I might be thinking....) Her education was brief and none specialised, albeit costly. Apart from following William about in an almost unhealthy way that might be seen as bordering the predatory, her work CV has been all but none existent. Her family has come to the attention of the press, some are rather colourful, and not without future risk.

How does her work experience, education and other attributes compare to our current queen and her husband? She probably has much more "real life" experience than either of those 2 had before they became the Monarch and her consort.
MARTIN R
All I am getting at is we have had many people in positions of power and or influence who would certainly be looked upon as falling short, George w Bush for one, the future Queen of England is not exactly going to have much impact these days, well apart from driving tourism numbers
