Graham S
Right, my bloody wife and in-laws have decided this Christmas the family are gonna make our gifts for one another... The wife, Mother-in-law and Brother in laws' partner are all really crafty people and forever making things like cards, soaps, bath bombs, jewellery etc... Now I'm not that sort of person and i've got no idea what to do other than something with car parts, well engine parts as this is what I can get from work. What do you guys think I could make? I thought of a clock from a flywheel, with a spark plug stand etc but think that may be a little big and heavy for most walls! Another idea was one of those little men from a spark plug body type thing but not sure how to weld arms/legs etc onto a plug! Any ideas folks? I'm thinking a clock of some sort but with what car parts? maybe plugs for the hands?
Tricky-Ricky
Years ago a really good mate of mine, made me a piston man for a birthday present (skint at the time), made from a bike piston that was holed in the top, it had two gudgeon pins for arms, and two valves glued to the gudgeon bosses as legs, with a spark plug stuck in the top for a hat, and a small spray painted face. I still have it, and it reminds me of a lot of good times, even though i lost track of him and his misses years ago.
Graham S
Don't suppose you could post a picture please mate? I'm terrible at this sort of thing, so need something to work from! I'm thinking of making a clock from a brake disc at the minute.. That seems simple enough!
Josh
Are you making this for your wife? Is she into cars? Would she like a 'car part clock'? Not that it's a bad idea but what does she like? Make something personal between you two. Something you've shared, maybe something you both share an interest in. If I were given a car part clock I'd like that, it's a nice present and something I'd like and appreciate.
David P
Stand up for your petrol headed manhood, and make a Top Gear coffee table. An old V8 from the breakers, and a sheet of glass from the DIY. Sorted !

Luckily I'm not making her something, its just for the mother in law and brother in law/girlfriend! Her Brother is pretty cool so would like some random car part clock or something! The mother in law is also cool, she'd happily have anything as she sees it more as a creative thing rather than a 'car part'! Stand up for your petrol headed manhood, and make a Top Gear coffee table. An old V8 from the breakers, and a sheet of glass from the DIY. Sorted ! Now thats an idea! haha, like it! I know the brother in law would like that! I wonder how many V8's are laying in a scrap yard going for nothing!!
