MrRalphMan
Currently I have an old HP 530 sff workstation acting as my download server/file server. This isn't the most efficient pc to keep running 24*7, so I was wondering what people would suggest for a replacement. It doesn't have to be mega powerful, I only have 1.5gb at the mo running server 2003. I would quite happily swap to a Linux build, just need to run a bittorrent client, currently uTorrent, and I guess some sort of samba share too. I have some other bits, but pretty sure I can get replacements for them (openssh and a web server). Currently it seems to be using 1 to 2 p an hour to run. JustGav
What about an old laptop? low voltage CPU, use a few USB hard drives. That will work just fine and you will be able to power it off an inverter and it even has a built in UPS
The-Plethora
I use an old shuttle or my netbook, the max output from the netbook can only ever be as high as 90 watts.
MrRalphMan
The old laptop might be an idea, want something as cheap as chips though. Ps I raised this a rant as tapatalk wouldn't let me raise it without a prefix.
