Abz
You can alter the bodywork on an R33 GTR quite easily to give a different look: Wow, some serious damage there!
Supra Gaz
You can alter the bodywork on an R33 GTR quite easily to give a different look: Brilliant picture! A mate at work has just bought an R33 GTR, we have spent a but of time going over it and fitting a few parts and it was a pig to get bits in and off, they are a pain to work on. The parts (as already mentioned) are damn expensive too in comparison with Supra bits. But, when it comes down to it, cars cost money, will a few quid more hurt you, and if you aren't going to work on it (ie get a garage to do the work) then don't let those things put you off. Just look at them, side by side and decide which you want to get in and go for a spin. Good luck with your choice
Samurai 20V
Hi...Thanks for the many replies...It seems the choice is swayed to the Supra...Looks wise I dont despise the R33, but I think the Supra is a better looking car.. All this talk on the unreliability of the R33 is concerning. WIth these cars not available in SA, the last thing I want is to be sitting around fixing the car instead of driving it.. I do like the R34, but due to import laws in SA, year 1996 is the cutoff... There are a fair amount of Supras in Japan, the cost compared to the GTRs is a fair amount higher...SOme of these guys really abuse these cars....Its sad to see.. Anyway, I will keep looking, hope a good Supra pops up soon!!
Samurai 20V
I did seem to give Skylines a bit of a slating, in their defence what road car based track day car have I run for the last 5 years? A Skyline R33.... But it's a GTS-t though, so only 2 WD. Don't underrate them however, they are dirt cheap to buy, light(ish) and can be made to fly. Hey Chris...What sort of setup do you have on your GTS? Has it proved reliable? They are very cheap in Japan, I am just concerned of having to mod past the bounds of the stock ECU to reach similar to a BPU Supra...There is limited knowledge of these cars in SA so I dont want inexperienced tuners working on my car.. I have been for a ride in a BPU Supra, I was super impressed with the solid feel of the car and build. I have also been for a ride in a R33 GTS, it went well but didn't feel as impressed overall as I did with the Supie. Granted, the car is alot less powerful but considering I had been driving a 1600cc car I thought I would be more excited by it..It also seemed to struggle to catch up with my 140kw 1600cc Corolla at about 200km/h...COuld have been an issue with that individual car though...
